Seedling question

I just put 2 seedlings in a cup last night and have had (1) CFL 23W on them, and the soil kinda dried out, should I water it or what? I know they like warm moist soil, I'm just scared of over watering and killing them.

Give em some water if the cup is dried out but they're probably fine. Get them into 6 inch pots and follow normal water schedule.

Marijuana likes a wet to dry cycle of getting soaked then drying out completely. Once you get into a pot you can check the first few inches of soil with your finger. If it's bone dry then water. You'll also know when things are dry b/c the pots will be light as a feather compared to when the soil is moist.

Seedlings don't need to dry out completely and u should never let ur plants dry out completely either it kills the feeder roots on ur oot system and lessens ur harvest

Thanks guys, the soil was pretty dry... there was no soil on my finger when I pulled it out so I gave them a little water. Thanks for the info. First time dealing with seedlings.

absolutely, in his case however I think he is more likely to overwater than underwater. I'd like him to skip the cup step all together and go right into 6" pots.

also what I stated is conventional cannabis watering procedure. You can let your top few inches dry out and then water. you can also have the pot get light. As long as you're on top of it's you're not going to kill any feeder roots. I think the feeder roots start searching for water.

Anyone on this site is so on top of things that I bet hardley anyone underwaters. It's all overwatering or overfeeding.

I would put them in 6" pots but sadly I don't have any. When they get 3-5" I'll get some from walmart and transplant. Thanks for the advice.

I'd do it before that. It makes it easier to control the soil moisture compared to a cup. plus at 3-5" they will be very rootbound in just a cup.

The cups are a decent size. How would I even transplant a little stump of a plant? lol
I also drilled a couple 1/2" holes on the bottom of the cups.

I'd say the longer you wait with those long, narrow wax paper cups the more difficult the transplant will be. The soil at the bottom will fall apart during transplant exposing new roots if you wait too long.

They're plastic lol. But I'll do it sometime tomorrow when I have the chance.
