seedling problem!!!

hi this is my first grow. all has been going well i have one seedling and two clones right now. my seedling has been doing very well, but like an idiot i misted the top thinking it would like this (normally i water from the bottom).. well it got top heavy and fell over. is my seedling going to die? will the sun come out and dry her up and she'll perk back up? for a quick solution i piled a little extra soil around her base (stem) to prop her up and now she's standing up on her own. is this a good solution? i'm just really worried and i want my first seedling to do well! thanks

You did the right thing with the dirt and it will be ok if the stem isn't damaged.You could even cover the stem with soil to just below the cotyledons to promote more root growth.
Seedlings don't need a lot of water so be careful not to overdo it,they are more likely to survive a drought than a drowning.

ok i had also just watered it but it has been a good 3 or 4 days since the last watering (it is also pretty dry and hot here). thank you for such a quick response. i was worried about propping up the stem with extra dirt because i thought it might cause it to rot? not as worried anymore. thanks again!! its a sativa strain so i think its trying to get really tall already!

For water on the foliage to cause it to fall over it must have been a spindly weak stem. Stretched.

Prop it up, don't let the leaves sit on the soil surface.

Seedlings get strong stems if you keep a fan blowing on them. Otherwise they can be really flimsy, sounds like what happened. Picture would help. If the leaves are still green you are still in the game.

Water small amounts and as it grows increase accordingly.
If it's an outdoor grow the breeze will strengthen the stem naturally and if indoor use a fan as AimAim said.

its outdoor. it is pretty tall (i think) for a seedling.

anyway if you look you can see i had to pile up extra dirt around the stem to keep her up. i also thought the breeze outside would strengthen the stem, but i guess not enough to be strong enough to hold the wet top. she seems fine now. i was freaking out when it first happened though!

It's good and healthy.
I would suggest you get some perlite for when you transplant it to a bigger pot,it helps a lot with root developement because it holds air and moisture.

thank you guys! i mixed in peat moss to my soil for moisture and drainage. may look into some perlite although i heard it floats to the top of the soil

The perlite in the top 1/2" might float up, but it's not like it's going to float up from deeper in the pot.

right. that makes sense. about how many weeks before i'm looking at repotting?? i don't want to jump the gun. patience is hard!!

Exactly what happens to me. LOL

Patience is key otherwise you will make lots of mistakes.
You will be ok in that pot for a few more anyway depending on fast she grows.

Patience! I don't have time for any patience!

Anyway put up a pic.

A rule of thumb I have read and I think it's a pretty good guage it to up-pot when the width of your plant it 1 to 1.5 X the pot size. In other words if you have a 4" pot, you can let your plant get 4-6" in diameter.
