Seedling problem, only cotyledon leaves, need advises!

Hi all,

I am really a newbie, and this is my first grow. It has been like 10days since my seedlings has sprouted and I only see the first leaves, or known as cotyledon. As far as I have researched the second set of leaves should have been already out by now.

Here are my pictures from my seedling. Please let me know what do you think? Is it maybe a bad seed? I mean the the cotyledon leaves are looking green and healthy!!

Its hard to tell from the angle of the pictures but it looks like your CFLs are little too far from your seedling.. it shouldnt be stretching that much.
With CFLs you should be able to get your light 1-2inches away from your plant
Also you're pointing your CFLs down... most of the light comes from the sides of the bulb so 1 horizontal bulb would probably be as efficient as the 3 you have pointing down..

i haven't used those lights before, but I think you're supposed to turn them sideways. Like laying flat over top of the plant.

Oh alright, I understand and it makes sense that my CFL's are pointing down instead horizontally!! However don't you think it should have shown the second set of leaves though by now? Is this normal?? I am sorry for too many questions, I just want to make this a successful plant!

Its hard to say. but you should be able to see if things improve or not, soon.

Thanks man, I am already actually waiting for two other seeds to germinate, I think also the seeds are not really quality ones, since I just used some from my last green I had!

However I think, I'm just gonna have to buy some feminized seeds to start with. I heard skunk #11 is good strain for beginners!? Any suggestions?

Oh sweet, you just put a smile in my face, and my hopes are back again!! I'm just gonna improvize and make a fixture for those lights!! You think that is the reason why the other sets of leaves didn't show up!?

Actually. That is more than enough cfl's for now (1500lumen p/6" of seedling growth). Your clear solo cup can actually be lit through the entire cup even the bottom. Everytime your roots see light they turn, id say that thing is trying to kick out some roots probably spending too much energy on root dev. Nothing serious just slows growth.

Alot of people like ak48 for its short flower time. Which is when problems can cause...the most problems lol.

I started with autos, but I'll probably try that AK 48 soon. I change my mind alot tho.

As some said above get the plant closer to the bulbs. Re position the bulbs sideways

Much closer. It is stretching for the light.

Thank you guys all for all the suggestions and advises, I will keep you posted and let you know on the progression!! This seems like a great community!

My AKs aren't doing as well as the Pure Power Plant I bought at the same time. The PPPs are not only twice as big but they all germinated where only two out of 5 germinated out of my AKs-- just sayin'. And don't believe everything you hear about AK-48s maturing in 48 days-- that's BS. Also, just sayin'.

What a stupid thing to say. Your plant is no where near dead its growth is just stunted a bit. I've been noticing that CFL grows tend to go a lot slower than those using LED, HPS or MH lights. Definitely turn your lights sideways and bring the light closer to the plant. Other than that the first stretch of life from seedling to veg is a VERY long time for a new grower, very little is seen above the soil but believe me, tons is going on below the soil. You should see those first true leaves in the next few days.

Thnx for the news man! I kinda thought the same thing, how's that dead you know, when it is still actually standing. I just noticed from some vidz that usually the next set of leaves comes out basically at the same time as cotyledon leaves, but I guess it depends, just like in my case!!
