this is MY TUTORIAL on how to make REAL SEEDS. you want feminized seeds? make your own thread. simple as that. it's a bit childish not to respect my simple request. it's a "tutorial" not a discussion. we have a whole forum here you can use. :eyesmoke:

i never said i didn't want to be at RIU, i said i was done with arguing on that particular thread. :wall:
Its your thread you should keep it about what you want... Great tutorial
Thanks a lot!!kiss-ass

Great tutorial F2B, I learned alot....but I still have a couple Q's if you don't mind.

I recently had a phuckin herm infest 4 of my females, 2 very lightly that were about in their 4-5th week, and 2 a little heavier that were in their 2-3 week of flower. (Now the herm was detected a while ago, but I took clones to make sure I didn't cause the hermying, and it was killed off. Well one clone was brought to flower and it hermied too, so I killed them off, but not before one popped.

Anyways, to my Q.

i like to wait until i see the skin of the seed pod start to peel back and the exposed seed poking out. premature seeds are no good. the longer i wait the better. it does not hurt to let them go until they fall off on there own. i can shake a branch and seeds will litter down.

1) Will the plants that were at 4-5 weeks going to allow the seeds to mature? This is important to me as to when i'll harvest them, they are in their 7-8th week now, some of the seed pods are peeling back but the seeds are clearly immature. I intended to take them 9-10 weeks.

2) will the seeds be likely to be hermies too? The 4 plants it infected were absolutely females as they were cloned from weed I had grown and smoked already. I don't care about fem seeds but if i'm going to get alot of hermies from these seeds, I won't bother with them.

the seeds will all be hermy. i'd feed them to the birds. so if they ripen or not doesn't really mater. :eyesmoke:

Thats actually misleading in the sense that with the Aa Bb convention uppercase denotes a dominant trait, while lowercase denotes a recessive trait, but the pictures display a codominant combination.. With the Aa Bb system, all the F1's should be red phenotype and heterozygous genotype, and the F2's should be 3:1 red with the genotypes listed..
When working with codominant alleles you really should clarify things..

Thanks this post couldnt have come at a better time! I was just looking into STS, and buying some silver nitrate. Ive always been a fan of keeping it real. Males dont hurt! Silver burns do!

fdd2blk: Thanks!

I've been following your guide for a few months now, growing out 1 male, 1 female to make a nice stash o seeds. You covered just about everything, but as the grow is getting close to ending, I'm curious if you've noticed seed producing females slow way down at the end?

This has been sort of a bonsai grow, the plant was put into 12/12 24 days after germinate, and is in a 1.5 gal pot to keep the overall size down - but the lady hasn't grown an inch upward in more than a week. Only about 3' tall, and this strain will go 6' under HPS in 3 gal pot. Budding continues and seed pods are going nuts, but it's much slower flowering and growth than I've experienced with this strain when non-pollinated. Today is 68 days since germ, and there never was a stretch period.

Also - this grow was done entirely with CFL's. Daylight 26W/1600k's for veg, warm 43W/2700k's for flower. I'm very pleased with the cool lamp temps and low power consumption, but the buds are not as dense as HPS provides. Good compromise anyway.

I'm guessing the girl is putting all her energy into building the seeds, and that's why all other growth has pretty much stopped? That sound about right?

Great great great tutorial. Thanks again.

i have to mark my branches so i know which ones are seeded. so i'd say seed production does NOT slow growth. plants do NOT have a limited supply of energy. imo :eyesmoke:

yes true total plant weight will be the same as with unseeded plants. this time though i thoroughly over pollinated 2 whole plants and my total volume of smokeable bud will be low but i will have a few thousand nice 4 way hybrid seeds which are white widow/purple urkel crossed to larry og kush/pre 98 bubba kush. none the less ill be less liberale with pollen next grow i like my smoke this run will be made into hash no big deal.:eyesmoke:

I wonder what's going on, then? The plant has been a slow grower since germing, and now stopped - though healthy and blooming. Maybe just a runt, or root bound in the small pot. I pollinated the whole plant, so I'll have plenty of chances to see if the kids are shorties too. That would actually be a really good thing for me. Thanks for the info.
