Seed germinating really slow?

Well it's been 2 and a half days since I first put my seed into a moist paper towel and since then it's been covered with a plate and on my windowsill.

From what I have read I should have a seed with a fair sized taproot by now. My seed looks as if it has only just opened and there is no root coming out of it yet. It opened in the first 24 hours and now it hasn't really changed.

Should I be worried or just be patient and wait it out? I haven't exactly been great at keeping it at a constant temperature. How bad is this?
 
It can take more than a week to crack. Just keep it dark, warm and moist.

If you're showing this much impatience 2 days into germination, growing weed is definitely not for you dude.

As said, they cacn take a good while to crack and grow the tap root, wihle at the same time, seeds can do it overnight.

Personally i started with no patience, i didn't stop growing because of this, i used my grow to iprove my patience :)
 
yea i dont know why your only germinating one single seed. unless its a really good one you got from a buddy for free. otherwise i like to start at least 10 to make sure ive got a decent batch in the begining.

if that one seed dies youve got nothing else and you have to start over. wich is pretty much what im saying. the more the merrier. and then you can use survival of the fittest

This makes me think it cracked, but has no tap root? If that is the case, and it's been cracked long than 12 hours, I'd think you have a dud. That tap root usually comes out very quickly once it cracks.

yeah its been cracked for over a day. there seems to be a root wanting to come out but its so tiny. like half a mm at most. thats barely changed in 24h
 
yep paper towel is still damp. temp on the window is around 24C. although at night I left the heating off one time and I'm guessing it dropped a fait bit cooler.. not sure if I buggered it :(
 
ok so I'm thinking the seed is done for.. barely any difference in the seed in 48 hours now. It has the tiniest root ever poking out at like half a mm. oh well.. gonna plant it in soil later on today and hope for the best. also gonna germ myself a few more seeds.
 
but it has cracked.. its just the taproot is refusing to grow. it barely is even half a mm out the shell and has been that they way for 48h.. should I still keep it in the paper towel and wait?

I would question how fresh is the seed. I had exactly that happen with some WW seeds that got to 5 years old. They were great for the first couple of years, bursting into life, but then quickly lost viability.

Seed banks are not always honest about how long their seeds have been laying around, as well.
 
Ok so do I suck at germing or what? I have germed 3 seeds lately and only one has cracked. I started it with the paper towel method and then put it in soil. Today it showed it's first signs of breaking soil. However my other 2 seeds have been in the paper towels for almost 3 days now and still haven't cracked. Should I wait it out in the paper towel or put them in soil and pray?

What could I be doing wrong?

Not listening to people maybe? 2 WEEKS OR MORE SOMETIMES!!!!
