Secret Jardin DR90 2.5 (plastic connectors)

Hiya. I bought a DR90 today after reading rave reviews. I was expecting plastic corner joints but i opened it up to find the ends of the roof bars have plastic connectors. I thought they were one solid piece with a bend at each end, so there was no chance of them breaking.

Like in this vid.

I'm disappointed to say the least. As it stands i feel like taking it back and switching it for something else. I don't trust these plastic bits to not break and end up burning my house down.

What gives ? Would you guys be ok using these ?

Thanks.

I like my sun hut over my Jardin anyways, take it back if your not satisfied or you will regret it always like you already are.

yea. . sorry to see that man. my secret jardin has the solid three way connector. those joint things look suspect, but the 2.5 is newer... maybe they're better?

my sunhut connectors aren't as stout as my secret jardin ones, fyi. have a 8x4 sunhut and 4x4 secret jardin..

I dunno, i sent them an email. I was hoping you'd say they were made of some sort of super plastic. I have a 400w air cooled supernova that i want to put in it so i can't fuck about. The tents rated at 50kg (110lbs).

If i don't like their answer i'll make sure people know about this.

Plastic is shit I got my tents off ebay for 150$ 5x5x7 and its all metal, metal corner connectors, and metal bars with curve for the top...I had plastic connectors and one time I had just opened my temt the fuckers broke and my 6 inch enclosed hood fell but I caught it right away

Here's the reply i got. Do the old bars get bendy over time ?

I received your mail from my college in charge of the after sales service.

I red that you bought a DR90 from the new revision, and that you were not happy about the fact that the Handling tubes (top bares) had plastic ends instead of the metal ends that you are used to see and that you seem more comfortable with.

I understand your concern, but I think you haven't got all the information here.

The plastic that is being used for the end of the handling tubes (top bares) is made of a very resistant plastic with some added resin to it.

It is far more resistant than a metal bit that after a certain time of use gets bandy and weak.

We have been running some test that showed that our new end bits are far more resistant than the metal bars that are provided on most tents.

Give the new technology a chance and you will see for your self that its works well.

These plastic corners have been upgraded and re-enforced after several tests and are now working perfectly with no weakness.

See for your self by giving your new tent a chance.

You won't be disappointed !

I have 4 150's I use for complete control SOG's. The Jardin was my first and only choice for it's quality! The new plastic pcs. will suit you just fine. Plastic IS more durable then metals for that use. These aren't made in China cheese turd parts......The only other tent I would consider is the Gorilla line - for their tallness......But I run my tall or full size plants in a another built for it area. I mean why a tall tent, when a tall room the size you need works better.

Your 3x3 DR90 will be just fine and I'll bet you never have to replace those brackets.

They don't look like quality. They are made in China lol. I just came off 4 days researching tents, there's so many bad stories with plastic, you can imagine how pissed i was when i got home and saw those cheap looking brackets. I'll keep it but i'm going to run strings across the top to catch it if it falls.

Looks like a lighthouse hydro. I nearly got one but i thought i was paying extra for that bit extra quality. The shop i bought the Jardin from doesn't stock them so it's a bit awkward.

I'm still waiting to see what the Jardin guy says about them deteriorating. I think they're made from polypropylene which does deteriorate with heat and UV.

Degradation

Polypropylene is liable to chain degradation from exposure to heat and UV radiation such as that present in sunlight.

If they're such a great improvement why isn't it listed with the new specifications on his site ? Probably because people like me wouldn't buy them if they knew. I need to start looking for metal replacements.

Yep, it is a lighthouse hydro. Wasn't too sure about it, but for a hundred bucks I took a chance and I love it. Could do without the yellow piping though.

I have a heavy air cooled reflector, fan and filter. They might be ok now but what about in future ? I can't trust them. One single piece bar is better than plastic connectors. I would have metal corner pieces as well if i could, metal's better than plastic.

what do you plan on doing in your tent?? there not for hanging people in..
Overkill is always better. Lights, fans and filters add weight quick, and I wouldn't want a fatigued piece of plastic to be the ruin of my crop, or possibly starting a fire when shit falls.

I've been running mine for over a year now with no problem.
Secret Jardin provides spare parts that can renforce your tent If needed.

So far nothing wrong to declare about my DR90.
This brand is still on top of most of the shit china made low prices tents.
I don't mind paying the price if the product lasts in time.

I'll stick to Secret Jardin for now !!!

You're Félix Pieau aren't you ??

In the icmag link.

and i personnaly recommand it's new DARKROOMS.

In the e-mail you sent me.

I hope that using your tent will show you the quality of the new Secret Jardin DARKROOM.
Note the capitalization on Darkrooms.

Hi Félix.

You would do better not assuming we're all stupid. This is a real problem buddy. I'm not impressed with your plastic junk. Why not mention it on your site if it's such a great improvement ? I think you know they're a downgrade.

These tents are pretty good if you have good genetics and take it easy on the zippers, over time they will crap out but I have an original 90 that is 3 years old and still working great, not sure if the new ones are cheaper made though
