Second Outdoor Grow, different area.

Hi, :)

So, we are moving to another province, at 46 L. ... this time around I'm looking at growing Pink Freezeland ( maybe 10 of them ) outdoors and as organic as I can bring it without have to get into too much home made teas and such ( no dissing, just won't have that kind of time available ).

We are getting to the new place in a few weeks, beginning of june in fact and will have a 30ft. x 30ft. garden to play with. The new house is wayyyyy out of the way, in mountainous country side and surrounded by wheat farms, and forests, a few distant neighbours that cannot see the garden. I'll also be planting tomatoes, string beans and other veggies as well as tall sunflowers. I'll make use of chicken wire fencing to help keep critters out of the garden ( deer, coons and so on ).

Here is a rough plan of where the garden will be situated on our property.

Hello and thank you TWS, my big concern for now is to figure out just how many plants to grow so as to not crowd them in, I want each one to have plenty of grow space in order to realize their full potential. I hear that it's best to dig the holes to about a foot and a half or two even and make that hole just as wide so that the roots of the plant will have an easier time and feed better. Any ideas on this ?

well your garden would be good for like 9 plants that are 10' tall or you could go with 16 plants that are 6 or 7' tall... larger holes = larger root area = faster plant growth...

if you want 9 plants dig the holes about 4' from fence and then 8' from center of hole to the center of the next hole 3' wide x 2' deep holes and 1' raised bed on top of hole
if you want 16 plants dig the holes 3' from fence and about 6' from hole to hole.. 3' wide x 3' deep + another 1' raised bed on top of the hole

raised beds give you more room to walk around and lets more air get to the roots

Thinking of doing the greenhouse thing next summer, this time around, I'll just be starting the garden for the first time and it will be mid-june before plants in in ground ( which is fine given that we are pretty high up north ). I was thinking of going with 9 or 16 plants.

Going with 16 ensures they will be a little smaller though I can simply tie down a bigger plant so that it isn't standing too tall. Pink Freezeland is a very good producer but I'm also hearing about another outdoor strain that grows well in that area, it's called Appalachian I think.

Next summer, I might just put up a greenhouse and grow my red diesel and Pineapple chunk as well as a strain someone gave me called ' Berkeley Dream '.

Chances are, I'll only grow 4 plants as I don't need any more for my personal use.

Well, seeing as I'm in Quebec, Canada ... not going to be too many 10' plants growing ... grow season is not long enough for anything like that i think. The Pink Freeze Land plants do have a potential of doing 2 pounds per plant given ideal conditions but even i pound per is pretty darn good in my eyes. I think if I can get them to about 5-6 feet in height that would totally be great and I would even tie them down so they are not too easy to spot.

Will definitely dig holes deep enough and large enough and make raised beds. Read this morning that someone actually saw one plant of the same strain grow to be 9' tall and produce 9 pounds but I'm thinking this may simply be like those fishing stories, lol.

I've seen Freezeland @ 10 ft in Ontario but it had more like 2 lbs of yield... It is quite airy in bud structure, very sweet & sticky however... I've seen many ~12' plants in Cali since returning and I dont think any of them were more than 4-5 lbs... not positive on total counts however. I think Freeze is a great o.d. strain and definitely a quebec original!

Hehe, I'll be very glad with one pounders for sure. We are just moving into the new place for june first, so I'll get a hold of a few Pink Freeze Land clones and that will be it for the summer. This will give me time to settle in and figure out the next steps. We do have this huge triple garage and could easily make use of a closed off third which would amount to a 25' x 30' space but that will likely take some major cleaning and ensuring electrical's are up to par and that there a water source in it, even before thinking of installing light systems and other equipment for an indoor.

By summer of 2014, we should have both an outdoor and indoor going and I'll be in a better position for experiment with other strains.

Well. we have moved and I have created my little garden and plants are in the ground; 9 Pink Friezelands and one Appalachian. Here are a couple of images. The first image is of the Appalachian while the others are of some of my Pink Freezelands. I decided on tying the freezelands down low due to their potential height, as I don't want to be giving too much of a good target.

Good luck! Nice to see you've settled into your new home.

The weather in ontario has been bipolar. veggies are suffering, but fruit trees are having a bumper harvest (weird!). I hope it's better in quebec.

July 28th and I'm posting this update. We are all moved in and been very busy getting things as we want them to be around the new house. Got my outdoor garden going as planned though the clones I got suffered from about 2 weeks in small pots ( past their due date to be planted ). Reason for this was getting the garden all ready, it took a bit longer than expected.

Here are some pics, not of all the plants, but still this should give you an idea. There's 9 Pink Freezelands and 1 Appalachian ( image #4 ) .

Hi Crysmatic, wether has been crazy up this way as well, lots of rain so crops were started late june due to colder temps. The plants are now doing well, excellent even though they growth has been stunted and so they will only likely produce half of what I could have expected from each one. Still an interesting harvest in sight for end of september.

I've begun working on my indoor grow, which is in my garage. Just finished building one of two flood tables that measure 4' x 20'. The space should be up and running by en August.

It's august 6 and I thought I'd post a few pics of my garden. The first image is of an all indica strain called Appalachia while the others are Pink Freezelands. Both strain are heavy producers and perfect for this more northern area.

No buds yet though I don't think it will be long before they appear, I can already make out the bud sites beginning to take shape. Pistils are out all over. Some of the plants are close to 4 feet tall. :)
