I am done with my first grow. It is smoke able but a lot of things went wrong. So I am starting a journal and I hope all of you will give me a heads up when I am doing things wrong. :-?

4 days ago I starting germination. I used 9 seeds and 7 have germinated so far. I put the 7 in clear cups and used Happy Frog potting soil. I have 8,of the 100 watt CLF bulbs on them. They are not really 100 watt but are the equivalent. Because I did not use a grow journal before I can not remember if that is what I started out with. :dunce: I just remember using 1 bulb per plant. I think I did some75 watts last time but they sucked. I have a extra bulb going but I figure the more light the better. :peace:

That is not enough light for two plants, let alone more. You need some more power. Put all the CFLs you have on them, and add more ... the problem with 23W (100W equivalent) is that you cannot physically fit enough around the plant to give it enough light.

Do I need that many for a seedling? I was going to add more when they came up out of the dirt.

Last time I had started with 9 plants and I used 3 of the 100 watt bulbs per plant plus 2 of the 150 bulbs in between the plants during vegetative and the first 2 weeks of flowering. Of the 9 that I had started 6 of them were bastards so I ended up with 3 ladies and I split the light between the 3 of them. I had leaves burning all the time. I also did not use any nutrients:dunce: That could have been part of the problem.

I just did not remember how many I started with. So for seven plants how many lights do I need to use for the seedling stage?

I personally think thats enuff for the seedling stage. U said 8 lights right ? n 7 plants? Sounds good till they get bigger. I would think anyway. Then maybe 2 per or more. But if they are soo small i dont see why u need soo many :P

I assumed that's what you used all the way through last time and you were planning on doing the same this time. My misunderstanding.

It is still very difficult to burn them with the bulbs alone unless they are physically touching them. The light you have will be better than what I originally thought, but unless you flower them very early, you will be really limiting your results with the light output and coverage.

I started with 6 x 42W CFL and did not feel it was enough for flowering two plants at about 1.5-2' apiece, so I doubled it. Yield was good, between 1.5 and 2 oz apiece.

Got any pics? Im about a week ahead of you with my 6 seedlings, going the fox farms route myself this go round. Did you use the happy frog in your first grow? What are your thoughts on nutes for this grow?

yes, I used happy frog last time. I was doing fine until I got some bad water. I bought distilled water from the grocery store. I had been using only walmart distilled. I did not check the ph on the water and it almost killed them.
After that we had a creek flood about a mile from out house and it took out the underground phone lines so the dsl did not work and it took a while for that to get fixed so by the time I got up and running my plants were almost dead.

I am going to use fox farms nutes. I have been told that big bloom is a good one. So I thought I would wait until about 2 weeks in to flowering and then start feedling them. I am still pretty new to this and I am just guessing that is when you should start feeding them, After you know which ones are male and get them out of there.

I did take a picture of them but my camera sucks so it just looks like 7 cups of dirt with a litltle green things sticking out of them. I think I will get up close pics though. That is something else I need to work on this time...... taking better Pics. :-P

Ok so in a about 2 weeks when they really start growing, I was planing on adding 2 more bulbs on top and then adding 2 of the 150 bulbs in between them. I will have them in our bathroom closet and I have them sitting 3 in a row with them being 2 rows deep. How many lights would you recommend for that sit up? I have 7 growing until they show there gender. So the 7th one will be on the top shelf and I was going to put a total of 400 watts on that one.

oh by the way thanks for the advice :bigjoint::peace:

I veg them for 2 to 3 weeks and then I flower them. I waited 3 weeks because I needed the smaller ones to catch up with the bigger ones. I have had people suggest that I flower longer. I am not sure because of using the CLF bulbs. If I had a grow light then I could let them veg for longer. What do you think?

Ok so here is a update.
They are now 10 days old or since germination. I think they are seedlings still. There new sets of leaves have arrived though. I have one that is huge for its age. What do you guys bet its a boy?

I have added more lights by using splitters. I now have a total of 12 bulbs on the 7 plants. I also added a fan on them. The CLF's are the 100 watt equivalent by GE.

They are bag seeds from one of my friends. I think they are going to be a mix of skunk and I do not know what else. I am learning with these. Then when I know that I am going to kill them I am going to go with dr Chronic and get me some good fem seeds. I am going to post some pics tonight. :peace:

ok I know it has been a long wait but here is a update and some picture. I have been so busy that I have not time to give updates. Sorry guys but here I go. I am almost 3 weeks in to flowering. I started with 6 plants and Now I have 4 females. I am up loading pictures of them. I have redness on the small stems but the main stock has been and still is green. I am feeding them big bloom and using distilled water. I was feeding them every other watering but now I am feeding them 2 table spoons per gallon. I am very stumped on this because the Ph is ok. Does anybody have any sugestions? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. :peace:
