Are you running water into the water heater then the light ? No that wouldn
't work... from the tank to the light then to the heater and back to the tank. Right What kind of controller do you use to turn the heater on.
No. there is a pump that circulates chilled water thru the lamp, then there is a second pump that pumps water thru the co2. they share the same rez.

i just got a new ppm controller off of ebay to run the pump that turns on the water heater.

Thanks man, loving yours as well and look forward to exchanging information.

When are these beauties due? What are you expecting to yield? I just started in on something myself. 4 fresca Sols (600Wx4) Gonna run it on 12 Sour Kush and 12 MadMan OG. Ill be using Co2.

Also on the cooling, Im running a 1/4HP Chiller, how big of a res should I look at using? I wanna keep these lights pretty cool 72-77 degrees Since i want to hang one light into 6 plants. I may just need to do some testing....Would a 1/10HP Chiller be suffcient?

Also Hanging the lights into the plants as opposed to just throwing them over the plant, Will i see an increase in yield?

Finally...Last question, I know there are alot here so answer what you can....Should I rotate the plants daily to give it a more complete light coverage, or just let the plants grow (assuming I hang my lights in vertically)?

they are at 5 weeks so 3-4 weeks left. Will have recent pics up tonight I hope.

I have no idea what my yeild will be. this is only my second go, never got a dry weight last time. I hoping for at least an elbow.

I don't know if a 1/4 hp will do 4 600's. I think a 1/4 will only do 2. Of course there are many more variables, one being the ambient temp your rez sits in.. If my 100 gallons was sitting outside I could do 4 1ks on it with no chiller, at least this week!

I personally believe that vertical lighting is more efficient. Of course much of that effeciency is in the simplicity, which is lost with the water cooled setup.

Personally, I would recommend 1k lights with the water coolers, why not pack a big punch!
I would seriously take a look at my DIY chiller. It's cheap and can be replaced in an hour if it goes down. Your water cooled garden really depends on that chiller. If you commercial unit goes down, you may be down for a while. Mine can be replaced with a quick trip to walmart, 20 minutes and a phillips head. I'm guessin my diy is about 1/2 hp.

No you don't rotate the plants you can want the side exposed to the light to be your canopy.

What are you doing for Co2? I just bought one of those new low end controllers on ebay. Does what it sat it does/ pretty happy so far.

Budley I think most of us would be really surprised if you don't get more than a pound. I don't know what your light loss is over open bulb, but the way you have it in a smaller area is probably ideal to compensate for that and you've got everything else ideal too.

I think a lot of us expect big things here.

Appreciate that, don't get me wrong, I'm hopeing for more but would be way happy with another lb of blueberry.

they are definately fattening up, still have at least 3 weeks. Probably go 65 days or so with em.

Here's some shots of the bud orgy that was going on in their last night.

They are looking fat already! I hope the next 3 weeks is super nice to em.

Thank for the info, I think ill be trying your DIY chiller. I would love to run 4 1000 watts but my current Electrical is limiting me.

I have not settled on a C02 solution yet, can you give me a little insight into your own solution(brand, modifications, additional equipment) ? It seems to be a pretty compact and workable solution for my situation.

Actually to save you some time....It looks like I found something for my C02, eztankless.com they have some affordable units very similar to what it looks like you have. Ill be taking a closer look at this over the next week to see if it will work out for me.

This is the same as the one that I have:

Exact same unit, mine is branded marey. There all made in the same factory in china. Works great but you need a really high lift pump. You can get a nice one a harbor freight for 60 bucks.

Mines approaching 12 months of continuous use. I expect to replace it every 3 years. for a whopping 100 bucks, you can easily up the capacity for 50-100 more or just use 2 units. Much more flexible. You can also use an insulated ice chest for the rez. Seen a number of guys do it that way.

Like I said earlier that's the same unit I have. It's still on ebay for 195 shipped. Mine was shipped priority mail from Puerto Rico, only took 2 days. I'm very pleased with my co2 setup. A standard tank will likely last over a year. Watch the Hydroinnovations demo on youtube.

Im looking at doing a DIY C02 controller as well with the ventostat 8002, Ill let you know how that turns out. It would be nice to save that $400 on the C02 controller :)

Ventostats are great, can be a little pricey though. Hydroinnovations has one out for 349 now and there's a new sub 300.oo unit on ebay lately.

Major f up.

Last night I was trying to re-install my growcontroller after having an upgrade done. Well to start I turned everthing off and killed power to the 40 amp 220 I use for my main.

About half way through, I thought, "dam it's getting cold in here and wired my light up and fired it on. About 2 hours later I realized my pump wasn't running, and like an idiot, plugged it in. I'm sure you can guess what's happens next. Cold water and hot glass!. Cracked my fresca! Not shattered, just cracked the inside sleeve. Took out the bulb too.

what a bitch, boy is my setup reliant on this thing, tried to hook up a cool tube but there's no way to plumb it with all of the plants covering my ports. I was really lucky that a new shop in my area decided to try a fresca and had one in stock. So 300+ dollars later i have another fresca and an eye 1k. I guess, I'll just have to get another ballast and bulb once I replace the sleeve on the other one.

At any rate, I had to abort the install and get things shored up and into survival mode until this am. what a day, I walked into my perfectly running setup and fucked just about everything up that I could, I just imagine what I could do if I was trying!

Damn! That really sucks.

Does that mean we'll see a 2kw stacked vertical water cooled room here shortly then?
Didn't you saying something like your chiller could handle double what you had going now anyway?

I wonder if that would even be beneficial in that small of a room. Hmmm...

yea my gears are already turning. looking for another 1k ballast now. not sure what I'll do. Seems like overkill for anything smaller than a 1k.
