So i want to try sea of green for my closet. It seems most practical. I want to use a plastic bin , 5 gallon, and fill it with soil and plant a sea of green. Has any one done this before. I was thinking of doing 12 palnts. total!!! What is the maximum amount i can fit. I want to start in a few weeks so all input is appreciated thanks:peace:

BUMP

I want to use 30 gallon containers. would that be ok and i only have a 250 hps. how many plants could i start and finish in that using hydro

2, 18gal. bin + coco for medium + 6 plants each max. flower at 16" under 400w hps. 3x3 closet.
this willl NOT produce a sea of green it will make for som serious plants. count on them doubling in size in flower that means 3'. in SOG you want more like 12-15 plants that are 8-10" max when flowered your origanal plan is perfect. i plan to do the same in a home made ebb&flo table 32"x20" with 15 or so babbies Good luck to you

You want to try and be around 50 watts of lighting per square foot. So with a 250w, your grow room size should be ~ 2'x2' for best results (4 sq.ft., 250w = 62.5 watts per sq. ft. 2'x3' = 6 sq.ft., 41.66 wpsf). In a sog (from my understanding) you want about 1 plant per sq.ft. during flowering (depending on pot size and strain). So I'd start 8-10 seeds, and weed out the males/smallest and end up with the 4 best plants.

You could try using a 2'x3' grow area to finish with 6 plants, but that'll only be 41.66wpsf. It won't be an even light distribution from a single lamp, so you'll probably see reduced growth at the edges. You may end up with more plants but lower yield.

Just my $.02.

Good luck,

I want to know MJXXX what kind of yeild you get with an 18 gallon and six plants. I am sitting here looking at a couple of 18 gallons full of amended peat and wondering if i should stick tow girls per each one. I do four plant perpetual and veg for 9 weeks then flower for 9 weeks. Every nine weeks I harvest. I usually use seven gallon bags but I wonder with 18 gallons if that is like nine gallon grow bags or I will get bigger results. Seems a nice easy thought. Lol, just pop in their rubbermaids where they "cook". Let me know? :)

Yea

I think Soil would be too costly and create more problems. Any one Have any good input on Perilite. How to grow using that or other Soil less mediums???
