i think i want to learn to dive. and then take a trip to a reef, its time to do something ill never forget

fuck yea! scuba diving is a little like sky diving, both insanely exciting. do it!

I'm a PADI Divemaster and have spent 4 days U/W altogether. Seen whale sharks on numerous occasions amongst bull, leopard, reef sharks etc. I've had some of the best times of my life whilst traveling. So much so I'm an expat for 8 yrs now!

Do it- you won't regret it!! :)

You will waste far more money on dates, (that you would like to run from) then you will on scuba gear.

When diving, it wont matter if the date was any good, the boss was an asshole, or if it's raining (nice when in salt water).

For me, diving is another world, free of cell phones, Bill Boards, speed limits, and the endless clutter of shit I keep tripping over in my head.

I haven't been in years. I did a refresher course a few years ago to get a new card but haven't used it. I get so fucking cold, I'm pretty skinny and without a dry suit it sucks anywhere north of the bahamas. In Costa Rica I could swim naked all day without getting cold, but in Mexico I got too cold even with a wetsuit hehe I'm a pussy

I have a cool shell collection I left at my mom's house when I moved out west. Coolest place I've been was the barrier reef in belize.

Temp is a big issue and a dry suit makes all the difference. Most of my diving was in Monterey Bay so the avg. temp was 58.
I could almost piss in the ocean from my house so it was real easy to get in 10 dives a week, which resulted in having to get a new wet suit within a year. Replaced with DUI dry suit.

Don't buy anything until you get your card, you might find out diving is not for you. But if it is, I can recommend some nice dive sites.bongsmilie

I want to move to Carmel so bad! I love Monterey Bay! Probably my favorite Cali area.

Now is the time to buy, if you can. $3000 a yr in property tax is alot better then $8000, (if you are looking to retire) thats how much the values dropped in the last 3 yrs, SF prices are one the way back up, Monterey/Carmel trend is usually 11-12 months behind SF.
