Scroggin W/ CFL's

I am going to start a new thread. That "First Time CFL" title is getting kinda old .


Lights
10 x 26watt 2700k cfls
02 x 30watt 6500k tubes

Nutes/Soil/
MG BloomBooster 15-30-15
Good old backyard soil in a 18gal bin

Strain

Going to do 12/12 from seed, using 90% 2700k. I have 2 plants that came out of different bags. The larger one started flowering already. Still waiting to see sex of the smaller plant. Should know soon. They both smell great.





I will lst for another week or two, then when the plants are large enough ill start to scrog.

Its like a little flower stand i guess, metal with a plastic or rubber coating. Its more narrow than my bin so it will bring the plants together. The screen might be to low. I'll have to see, this is my first shot at a scrog grow.

Good deal dude everything looks good. I'm going to screen it up too. Just can't decide on cfls or hid. Building a RDWC system right now. I'll check back in to see how things continue to turn out.

Your screen looks nice. I only have 1 comment about scrog for you

The point in scrog is to have a slightly longer veg period in order to fill up the screen with bud sites, if your doing 12/12 from seed personally I don't think it's going to make much difference to your final yield as the screen won't fill up as it's supposed to and you'll just be left with the same results as an lst grow (which will be less yield than scrog).

Not trying to be a hater lol just the principles of scrog

But it's always worth trying new things and experimenting!

Hey matchbox. I am going to stop posting in the old thread i guess, this is going to be my new one, was trying to delete all my old pics but cant figure out how .... The main reason i am lst/scrog is because of the size. I am using seeds from commercial pot, all the strains i am able to grow, grow BIG!. Trying to keep the plants around 24" - 30" high would be great. If i were to let those plants grow in that bin without any lst or scrog they would probably try to grow to 8' tall . I would love to try and grow some autos or even some decent strains. This is all i can get my hands on now. At least these plants are already smelling great. My last female started to smell a little about 5 weeks into flower, these already smell 10x better.

What do you mean 'commercial' seeds? lol

People grow I suppose 'commercial' seeds in scrog extremely successfully and they stay about a foot or so tall with a good month of veg or so. You just gotta read how to do it properly

Thats the result of SCROG

The result is well in theory, higher yield because the bud site are positioned for better light usage so you get a shit load of smaller buds that 'should' yield more than a few bigger buds.

More bud because by positioning the plant you can make sure each part get's maximum lighting.

Yeah you get more light to the bud sites and it makes them larger. And it optimizes space IMO

Meaning mass produced pot coming from mexico or columbia, quality not being the best. I guess i am mainly trying to reduce the size by lsting, the scrog should help also by allowing me to bring the colas out parallel to the ground rather than vertically. I want as little veg time as possible, seeing how the plants most likely came from equatorial regions, grow large and are 100% sativa, so i am not to worried about veg. My last plant went 12/12 from seed and ended up being 42" tall w/ being tied down once cutting about 1/3 the height off, not to mention i cut 10" total off each cola. if i had let it grow natural it would have ended up 6'+, most of the growth took place in a 1gal pot also. Kinda feels like im growing trees not plants .


I guess when i say scrog i mean the screen i have set up.
