Good point green santa. I veg in mine for 4 weeks before they go to the flower room so I guess it does get 3 months when you look at it that way. Once they are in the veg tent I give them a microbial tea.

Good call hyroot I forgot to mention neem meal is in my mix too. It is expensive and I don't use much but I got a decent deal from KIS organics. Coot was big on soluble humic/fulvic wasnt he? That is why I bought it but I use it extremely sparingly.
yeah cootz liked the bio ag / fulvic . I thought it was redundant. even though its organic, adding so many acids , I wasn't to thrilled to try.. Cann and headtreep and rising moon wouldn't do compost teas so that was their way of adding humus / humic plus topdressing ewc

if I buy castings these are what I buy and their rock dust. I can get it down the street and not have to order... I used to drive 2 hours to a farm supply for the same castings... then I found them locaally for $8 less. $22 for 40 lbs. of worm castings. $8 for 10 lbs. of rock dust.

I think your mix is solid scotch, yeah letting cook is key ===three months is because of the cold environment; summer way faster turn around................I was eyeing up one of those electric cement mixers at home depot!! just a dream for now though:)

Only amendments I might add would be the agsil 16h, and bioag fulpower(best humic on the market)......and I really dislike adding any feather/blood meal

^^^ nice grow btw
Thanks psu, this grow has been somethin.. definitely gonna be a seasonal area, right now i am trying out keeping the big ass heater on outside the open "vent" on the tent, WITH lights on its been 61*......... (for two days, and next week we are supposed to get some thick snow. again. Of course that 2 day warm up was just a tease... unbelievable,

And thanks for the reminder on Agsil, do you think greensand would have high enough levels of Silica to go w/out? or just a lesser amount?

I have a gallon of Ful-Power my brother! Got turned onto it when I purchased my Nitrozime (kelp I foliar with for some Cytokinins. Tried it in the res, maybe I used too much...) Actually scored a sample bottle when I was up there last time too with some protekt and foliar pro. But, I was under the impression "fulvic" acid plays the same role as the microbes/cooking/ewc breaking minerals down vs. chelating salts, being I am coming from a 1-part hydro nute and still using ful-power, it was reallyyy messing with me not to add it in, but I want to stay as clearly organic as I can get. (and after supra's [i think] talk on epsoma Im worried to add much, is it the OMRI sign we are looking for? How do we know..? But yea, my way of getting some peace of mind was using the Cytoplus from Bioag, those guys focus strictly on humics, think thats pretty cool. but I didn't even think about IT being organic or not..??

Adding humic bio ag is pointless if you have ewc and compost / humus. Its the same thing.

for me I'm doing the vegan mix, kelp meal, neem meal, rock dust. Then ewc. Seed sprout teas and compost teas.
I was worried about my Azomite being so large? Should I of ground any up to help? Gets me wondering about when I need to reamend.. how much less do you add compared to the initial mix?

it depends how cold, i had my most recent batch sitting outside for less than a month and its snowing outside right now and this morning i used some and I could see the white fuzz on it, I really dont think you have to wait 3 months also if you are going to veg them the soil will still cook in the tent.
Thanks for the insight E, still hard for me to accept the GS name...ha! I loved the old avatar.. Hope you are doing well. I figured Id let the pots set for about a month (right around the SLH chop) and then transplant whatever is up to par to take on the 5 gal's.. with how things are looking, Im gonna be busier than a Green Santa in 'nada! hahaha So hopefully things will break down enough, I may drench in that bennie tea to speed things up if people are in agreement? Any other ways?

Hah yea it is surprising that I felt compelled to take a picture of the dirt and share it. That is a good question about drainage. I use buckets with only one tiny little of drain hole, the idea being I try not overwater and it reduces humidity and conserves nutrient. So I guess the amount of aeration you need could depend on what you are growing in and your watering style. When I first made my soil mix I got perlite and pumice from the Root Organic but I added granular diatomaceous earth which I got from Napa and Walmart sometimes sells it as cat litter in bags for 99 cents.

I agree with avoiding feather meal. I was using Epsoma bio tone for awhile (now I question the organic-ness of Epsoma) and it has feather meal which is a slow release nitrogen. I am not sure if it is strong enough to interfere with the plants finishing on time and causing foxtailing.

No I feel you! I thought about it when I had mixed mine up but the camera was too far away! Kinda bummed I didn't get a pic but I was cold, busy and ready to get the job done lol.

I am doing smart pots w/handles, seemed the most convenient, but my friend is using the thin plastic pots? Any advantages over smart pots? I think the 5 gals may be too big for my Cab's footprint, sooo strictly 3x3? :/ may have to go 2 or 3 gals for northern narnia.

Been pretty busy lately, got the x3 clones of my buddy's of Fruity Chronic Juice, received my order from Attitude a week from ordering- thank you. BUT only got 5 of my 10 Ace of Spades, been emailing them for 3 days now, getting a refund but want to know how since I paid off the order's balance the day after I placed the order. D-wipes..... I have an update for the PCC but will have to throw it up tonight or tomorrow, just got em germed but I decided on Space Queen and I think they're gonna rock it under my 4250k panels or the SGS, I haven't figured out with space and strains yet, but by the update I will have my mind made up. I was going to do the Ace of Spades since I only recieved 5, but I think the SQ is the least I "care" about, and I can keep the pollen from the males and used for crossing? (seems like alot of TGA gear is with SQ anyways... this is just my way of justifying tossing the gen's.) The two SLH seeds I have going are doing great, think they will be flipped when the Cup sprouts.

As soon as I clear out the current SLH in the AT tent I think the FCJ clones should be doing well, and that might give me room to plant two more in 5 gal's (or hydro if too soon?), could either be the pennywise, or ace of spades, shit... i still have SLH to still go through, and a GSC!! Which is the better girl scout cookies btw?

Also,

Gogi OG
Quantum Kush
Sour Kush
Royal Kush 7

Ill get some pics up in the next couple days! Hope you all are doing well!

Possibly, it will take a while to break down.. Then if you do rols you should be good for the next 2 -3 batches on azomite. I sprinkle a layer across the top of the soil. along with other nutes. Then top dress with ewc.. then water

I had a clone of goji og. turned out to be fake and a hermie.. I got quantum kush. I will say out of all the tga gear I got. The quantum kush was the hardest to sprout. All the other ones were no problem.

Super Lemon Haze

Kind of left this one to die on its own, you know.. 4 res changes through the whole 12/12 cycle, power outages, low temps, the USUAL.

It was a good run, nothing to write home about, but I broke in the AT, got a new 3x3 to keep in mind.. and my work load is about to take a seat. May notice I threw in my first Gator Filter, luckily those guys use their heads with the attached hanging mounts, or I wouldnt have gotten it in till after chop, and the last filter was definitely shot. Ive taken two branches down already to look at trichs- probably next weekend. Youll be able to notice the bare spots in the screens. Just about all of it are little thumb sized nugs, gonna be easy trimming. Im looking to stock back up on some butter for edibles so most if not all the trim but the tops will go to that. Slight color shift with the cooler temps and nearing the end, only a select few leaves/buds though... probably catching the cold draft or are less apical? After this round things will be a bit hectic with a few different varieties at hand, and a good portion of tykes that are all about same age/rate.... but so excited to get down to growing some of these... ALL of these, out. (fruity chronic, space queen, super lemon haze, and ace of spades)

GEDC0351.jpg GEDC0352.jpg GEDC0353.jpg GEDC0354.jpg GEDC0355.jpg GEDC0356.jpg GEDC0357.jpg

The WR is a little tricky but you can make out some of the purple bud under the trichs. My buddy just gave me a puzzled look of wonder when I had told him I get my SLH purple, not like ~60* is GOOD...

GEDC0358.jpg GEDC0361.jpg GEDC0365.jpg GEDC0366.jpg GEDC0367.jpg GEDC0369.jpg GEDC0363.jpg

The Mix

The soil is going well, Mycelium(sp?) fungi forming over the top, lots of moisture with the lids on- should mix up this fungi layer so they are present in the lower layers of the mix? Or let it be, and process...

GEDC0371.jpg GEDC0373.jpg GEDC0375.jpg

Should I toss those 5 gals of dirt back in the mix to cook with everything else? (same rate?) Then thatd put the fuzz at least a little layered... so stoked to see that though. Thinking of ordering smaller pots- just read something that sounds like Forum Folklore, but got me thinking (the 1 gal for 1month of growth, 3 for 3, 5 for 5...) I usually veg no longer than 8 weeks, should I be looking to downgrade to 3's, besides the fact of diameter vs. the cabinet space, (the issue was stated the plants were still finding nutes in the soil towards the harvest flush because they were in oversized pots)

The DIY

And, I just got my second little heatsink rigged up with 730s, still have not recieved any of the other emitters but hopefully before the end of the month Ill have everything in hand. Still have not decided on the whites, still thinking CW or WW, but now thinking just x2 wws for mixing, and x2 more 660s in the CWs place since the AT and 51 are "cooler white based" and id like to fit in as much 660 as I can, gonna have to double check the drivers I ordered.

GEDC0345.jpg GEDC0344.jpg

The second one is definitely much cleaner cut, the first is always a prototype to figure out how you would have done it differently. Just hot glued the wires in place and used the 2-pin connectors from the ProGrow drivers, only have four so Im gonna have to source several more somewhere. Love how much more flexible the Red and Black wire are...

Hooked them up to the KillaWatt meter and the 3 of them draw right at 5.5w, now I am pretty shocked how faint they are lit... worried somethings wrong, but they are drawing a good amount, and your eyes strain after so long... but the hand tesT? I have to be within inches before there is a noticeable hue on my palm. Sooo... am I on the right track? What the hell does the IGs 730s look like? I may have to hit up Positivity, Chron or caretaker and see whats up..

The Other Side

GEDC0346.jpg GEDC0347.jpg GEDC0348.jpg

I have been learning how to water the hard way... came out at lights on the other day and saw one of my Ace of Spades bent over touching the dirt... (far right-middle) Gave them a good watering of the tea I brewed a few days ago, dilltuted it 1:1 with RO. Dono if that matters- I had noticed how "chunked" my dirt was after watering with it straight so thought it may help, but I dont want to use straight RO... my hydro brain is telling me id strip good things out little by little.

Right now I think it is every 3 days I am watering, the Space Queen are retaining moisture better for some reason- the AoS was under T5s till recently so I know that helped dry the surface more, but even further down the SQ felt soft. So welcome AoS, enjoy the cold. -_- but look at the node spacing on the Fruity Chronic. Talk about some fun. Already got the heads up that shes a hungry bitch, but this things has exploded in the past two days (res change at 600ppm)

Very excited to get things going,

Be safe everyone!

I too jumped on the attitude promo!! I got the TH anniversary box that comes with 6 strains, plus the TH promo of critical hog auto critical and auto northern hog plus attitude promo! I believe thats over 15 strains for 200$ cant beat that.

Looking forward to those autos in my veggie garden!

Brother scotch, i got a tear when i read ur update on organics.. Im soo proud of you and your journey to organics, hopefully one day u will look back and say, why the fuck havent i done this years ago!!

As for the current batch, if your not using it, put it back in a compost pile and keep it moist, keep adding them teas to speed things up, the white mycelium is good! Signs of life! Just keep in mind time is everythingg in organics, if problems happen, its more then likely the batch isnt ready, i would advise to use a clone u dont care about and test to see how she grows.

Last comment, if u can, skip the 5 gallons and smaller pots, for better results and less hassel, u will need 10+ gallons, i say 30 gallons is ideal.

Btw ur current run looks beautiful, love the purple hues

Thanks puff I hope you are doing well brother! I need to set down and run through what each strain is and pick em out.

I know it! I about missed it myself, even with the email from- I woke up, did my thing like usual... and eneded up ordering minutes before I was walking in to work. (no phones -_- )

Btw, congratulations man!! Forgot to say something just a minute ago. Jamaica eh? No high hopes there ;) your lady burn with you? Mine hardly, probably twice a month tops.

Nice strains, colorful frosty buds, soil mix, DIY pfr, all looks good.
Thanks hyroot- I was waiting on that JillyBean, after I saw a couple other strains coming back in stock, I knew it had to eventually.. hearing how common TGA is at legal dispensaries pushes me away a tad though... always want something to set apart from the crowd, not to mention if I had "waited," dont have to risk ordering se3ds. O well, hopefully they make it through customs and get here. Still plenty id like to order though....

Hahaha thank you Fly, means a lot... really. I was stoked to see the fuzz grown! going on three weeks cooking! only ~7 mnore to go... gahhhhhh... lol. Naw, lets me sex all these seeds.

Glad you hopped on that promo too! I shoulda stocked up one last time and gotten a few others, could've gotten a couple more promos if I really wanted. you're running autos? What in the heck, what do you want an auto for man!? Surely im missin somethin.... I just like "the idea" of controlling the photoperiod in it's own.

I do wanna doulbe check myself on some things if you wouldn't mind helping me brother. It is okay to add teas to the cooking mix, with the mycelium growing? Would the water/tea disrupt the growth of the fuzz? its just spores right(?)- worth breedings those bennies? I will start brewing one tonight if thats the case.... I have not added any thing besides the amendments at the mix to it...... just stored since then. (the condensation is probably from the high RH, should that be a concern?) And we don't flush in all natural organics, right? >>only for salts.

What do think im growing a jungle in here? ;) I may order some 10's for the 3x3' but my 5 gals just barely fit in the cabs. TG. The larger pots work great for no till? I've considered doing no till... but got steered back when I read planting next to the roots.. I think I have enough mix to cycle back and forth?

I hope you are all doing well, thank you for the kind words- this run was not anything special but it is all about the quality and experience. I am stoked to run this Fruity Chronic- when I had first smoked it, it had the taste of Gods, years later I still drool, and that damn thing is just stack-stack-stack, node to node. Gonna take some veg time. After this run I will be outty. Need to shut down some things for peace of mind. I will still be around, hopefully you nimrods will be able to pick up on where I went off to. Ill be back to do the AT some justice, and giving my ignorant input where "needed" haha.

be SAFE everybody!

I actually dont mind autos, its just hard finding a good quality auto, im getting them because they are freebies and have room in my veggie garden.
Sure the mycelium growth can "disrupt" due to the water\micro teas, but not too fear, the mycelium is growing where your eyes cant see, its a web of life in which we really have no control over, just let it do its thing.
All teas are a great idea, i say do a nice fungi one right before you decide to transplant and or after u transplant.

In organics, whether its ROLS, TLO, super soil etc etc, a larger container will guarentee you better results and a higher yield.
be not afraid of roots, they get breaken down by enzymes and other microscopic goodies and in turn make the quality of the soil much richer, this is the beauty of No till. To awnser your question, YES indo think you are growing a jungle, this is actually a good goal, add biodiversity to the soil and enviroment, just like the jungle!

jut a thought, u should look into raised beds on wheels, one large raised bed is much better then a couple 5 gallons imo

Funny you say something about beds on wheels! I saw "plant dollies" at wally world the other night I think I am going to go back in get 4-6 for the 3x3'

Thanks for the insight Fly, Ill brew something for em soon. I have some ZHO but other than that I do not know how to hit a "fungi tea," time to start searching/reading hehehe...

Do you have to add an extra enzymes to help break down the existing roots after harvest? I felt like I read somewhere...

Enzymes will break down everything faster than compost teas. And part of a well balanced diet lol.. Just do seed sprout tea's for enzymes. Cheap and easy. You can buy barley seed or mung beans at $1-$2 a pound. You only need 2 oz (1/4cup) for a 5 gal tea. I bought 3 lbs. Over 2 months ago and still have plenty. Directions are at the beginning of my thread or early on in the ROLS thread. Aside from more enzymes than any bottle or other method. Plenty of sugars and minerals are in sst's too. The mung beans which I use (can't find unhulled barley) provide all minerals for the most part. Nitrogen, phos, potassium, magnesium, magnanese, calcium, zinc, sulfur, copper, iron......

I just grab mung beans from sprouts market out the bins. $1.99 a pound. Unhulled barley seeds are hard to find. I'm going to try a couple feed stores when I run out.

Yo scotch

did I read u saying u used 18 cups of azomite or was it 9 cups? Either way I think that's a lot, let me look into this.
Have u tried planting a clone in a small container to give it a test run?

...I added 16 :-?

thought the same thing when I was spreading it out over the mix and stopped at 16... Hyroot had said something about it is going to be a minute before it breaks down to a usable form.. should I be looking at nabbing up some glacial dust?

should I make more mix and add it to kind of dilute the amount of Azomite? I still have half a block of peat, id have to get the composts/ewc.. and another trashcan.
