41 Senate Republicans Bend Over — Care To Help Bernie Sanders With This Telephone Pole?

As reported by Rachel Maddow on Thursday (5/29/14), 41 Senate Republicans who blocked Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' Comprehensive Veterans Health and Benefits and Military Retirement Pay Restoration Act of 2014 in February — 'cause, y'know, 'the deficit' and 'runaway spending' — are now waving their little plastic American flags and engaging in pious, political handwringing over the inexcusable difficulties faced by veterans seeking to access Veterans' Administration health services.

These shameless hypocrites are about to get theirs.

(hop the squiggle)

In the wake of the roiling controversy over fabricated VA 'waiting lists', a virtual symphony of calls for the scalp of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki and much frat-house excitement within the GOP for — at long last — a real 'scandal' they can try to hang on President Obama (to replace all the invented ones), Republicans are bleeding (and bleating) red, white and blue.

... but Bernie has a big surprise for them! According to Maddow, he plans to reintroduce his bill, which originally had 29 co-sponsors, in early June.

It's not every day that we get to witness poetic justice administered as a proctological procedure.

Following is an alphabetical list of the scumbags and chickenhawks about to be 'surprised from behind' while engaged in full-bore partisan pander... the same cretins who know no economies or deficits when literally forcing the Pentagon to accept unwanted and unneeded spending destined for the pockets of contractors who lobby them and support their campaigns.

Be sure to stock up on popcorn.

why? the vets are our holy grail.

lots of war mongerers..see that list above..all of them and after care for vets discretionary?

republicans have no shame.

You can blame our dysfunctional two party system.

Not mentioned by Maddow was the fact that an alternative bill presented by the republicans was prevented from even being voted on by Harry Reid. Your headline could just as easily read, bill by Rs to aide veterans was blocked from the senate floor by dems. Reid wouldn't bring it to a vote because then the dems would be on public record for voting against veterans bennies. It's just good politics by Reid, but shitty governing.

Pubs block dems, dems block pubs, nothing meaningful gets done.

Gridlock might be what's best for our country right now. History has shown that a lassie-fare approach during economic downturns has brought about the fastest recoveries.

The problems with the VA go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond money. It's an intellectually lazy approach to our problems that leads us to throwing other people's money at problems as the only solutions.

Maybe we should privatize the VA, make them vets give out their CC numbers before they can get care, or maybe a credit report. I don't know what the conservatives are whining about, These vets who do nothing but sit around and collect free care off the govt., is exactly what they say is wrong with America today, too many freeloaders. Get a job and work your ass off to pay for healthcare if you want it. 4 years is all these chumps have to do to get HC free for life? what a scam. Shut this shit down.

i'm so glad you brought that up GW..what else ya got?:

The reason that all but two Republicans (excepting Dean Heller and Jerry Morgan) blocked the vote was that Harry Reid would not permit an up or down vote on a rider that imposed sanctions on Iran. This completely unrelated bit of poison was none other than Mitch McConnell’s contribution to the bill. When he was denied his sanctions, he and his fellow Republicans scuttled the entire veterans’ bill in protest.

We can read the history, compare ourselves to the rest of the world. We can blame the other party, we can name names of the failures on all sides. We can vote on it.

But, the sad fact, in self rule this is all my fault, and all your fault and all our fault for any abuse that gets heaped on the returning Warriors.

America is fickle and we don't like to think about it.

Here is Obama giving the lie to the West Point Class. And he passed it out like it was a big bowl of Ice Cream.

"You are the first in a long time will not be sent to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan." Did you wonder why there was very little cheering? Did you hear the groans? Why do you think they joined?

They signed up to fight. Only fighters make rank.

And the C&C took a shit on their Life's hope, right after warning them about Syria,

It was a Joke. They will fight in Syria, just say it.

What you don't see, is how Vets help each other, and how much America helps the Vets. And you don't see the list of a Million that are helped each year. I think you see a drug ring that took over for the Oxy.

Don't be Secret Listed!

there cannot be money or religion in politics..once a senator/representative no longer benefits financially, they simply become you and i..desk jockeys, pencil pushers and bean counters.

Well, I agree but for the money. Elected Office is only about the collection and spending of money. I don't see a way around that,

How do you run a campaign to become known to voters without money?

First of all you have to believe that this bill would actually help Veterans with service connected disabilities. It won't. It also will not change anything about how the VA is run. One of the worst parts of the bill is how this program would be funded. It would be funded by an agency with no funds whatsoever. Basically you will end up with even worse service to vets. Yes the VA has a serious problem, but this bill would not have fixed anything.

Try reading the bill, it might make more sense to you as to why people voted the way they did, and this was a very partisan bill, only 2 republicans voted yes, and all but one Democrat voted yes.

Did you know the Clean Air Act actually gave an incentive to the Dirty coal industry to ramp up production even more? Had nothing to do with clean air I assure you.
