Rosanne Boyland died on Jan. 6 after she collapsed just outside the doors of the U.S. Capitol. She had been hooked into the QAnon conspiracy world and became an ardent supporter of President Donald Trump.

Her family feared that as a former addict she was exchanging alcohol with a kind of Trump addiction. While her family has several problems with the investigation that has followed her death, they're also angry about the ways the GOP is using her to push their own agenda.

Speaking to MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin for his podcast, Boyland's family accused Republicans such as Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) of exploiting her death.

During the questioning of Attorney General Merrick Garland, Gohmert asked if it was true Boyland was hit with a large rock by police officers, a story he claimed he heard on the internet. There aren't typically a lot of large rocks casually strewn around the U.S. Capitol, and neither the medical examiner nor the U.S. Attorney found that as the reason for her death.

Mohyeldin explained that he's been working to help people understand the Jan. 6 attack through the lens of one family and its links to a Capitol attacker.

"One of the key points has been how the right including representatives in the right and conservative movement and their media outlets have exploited the death of Rosanne Boyland to try to rewrite the narrative of what happened on Jan. 6," Mohyeldin continued. "As you heard from the family describing it as an act of terror."

NBC News reporter Leigh Ann Caldwell said that Republican officials are attempting to "sow distrust in the process," and Louie Gohmert's comments are part of that.

"He is making the conclusion she was beaten on her head. That is not what the evidence suggests. There is no video evidence to suggest that is not what the autopsy said," said Mohyeldin. "He is using that to advance the narrative as they have with other Trump rioters who died that day that they were martyrs of this cause. And, so, he is trying to beat the drum for his base for the right-wing conspiracy theorists she somehow was killed by the police when there is no evidence of that yet and the family doesn't believe the police killed her."

(I think that they picked a pretty messed up start picture for this video, I have been noticing weird little things on Rawstory lately, like them advertising Trump coins and shit like that).

Supporters of President Donald Trump have attempted to lionize Capitol attacker Ashli Babbitt in wake of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. One Fox News host went so far as to lash out at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for refusing to mention Ashli Babbitt as part of the moment of silence for law enforcement who died in the wake of the attack.

Calling them "our heroes," Pelosi listed the names of those officers, which prompted Fox News host Harris Faulkner to say Pelosi didn't count the "fifth person killed that day." Presumably, Faulkner means Babbitt.

Babbitt, was neither law enforcement nor is she considered a "hero." She was climbing through the broken windows of the Speaker's Lobby when she was shot by law enforcement. Videos showed the men with her bashing the glass over and over as those inside barricaded the doors.

Once they'd broken through, the officer was seen aiming a gun at anyone who moved to come through the doors. "Gun! Gun! He has a gun!" the men with Babbitt shouted. She climbed through anyway, and was shot. No one followed her.

In wake of her death, MAGA world has been all over the map in the conspiracy theories about her. One Capitol attacker even went so far as to say that she never existed.

Republican Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) told Politico reporter Olivia Beavers on Jan. 15 that officers would have been "totally justified" if they had shot rioters trying to enter the House floor.

Oddly enough the Fox propagandist says that Nancy didn't name the '5th person killed that day' (when listing the names of the officers who died as a result of the failed insurrection), when two rioters were killed. Somehow I don't think she meant the one that the Trump rioters trampled to death.

On the anniversary of the attempted Jan. 6 insurrection, Russian state TV reporter Denis Davydov was lurking at the Capitol, working on a special that aired on Sunday night. The broadcast featured a clip of Davydov approaching Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD)—a member of the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot—with a question: “It is believed that Jan. 6 was a planned attack by the FBI and radical Democrats. Are you investigating this?” In response, Raskin cuts through the bullshit and tells Davydov, “Give my regards to Vladimir Putin.”

A year earlier, Davydov had been embedded amongst the would-be insurrectionists, describing them as “rebels” and showcasing their bloody wounds on camera. State media coverage that followed included interviews with Russian-speaking bloggers who took part in the rally preceding the riot—all in an effort to present the rioting as a false flag operation, set up by the Democrats to impeach and discredit former U.S. President Donald Trump. The same long-discredited propaganda narrative is still favored by the Kremlin’s pet networks.

With a Russian state media crew filming inside the Capitol building, Davydov pointed out the spot where rioter Ashli Babbitt was shot. He introduced Michael Leroy Byrd, the Capitol police officer who shot her, as “the black policeman who pulled the trigger, but was never punished for shooting an unarmed person.” Davydov tracked down Babbitt’s mother, Michelle Witthoeft, asking her on camera whether anyone representing authorities ever apologized to her for the death of her daughter. Witthoeft replied saying she received no apologies and insisted that someone would have to pay for “murdering” Ashli.

The Sunday broadcast also featured ‘coverage’ of a rally outside a jail in Washington, D.C., where some of the Jan. 6 insurrectionists are being held. There, the Russian journalist interviewed Trump supporters who aired grievances about conditions in the jailhouse. Meanwhile, Russia is grappling with yet another scandal involving accusations of gruesome torture in Russian prisons, condoned and directed by prison officials. When asked about it, Russian President Vladimir Putin had claimed that prison conditions in Western nations, including the United States, are worse than in some third-world countries.

The title of the Rossiya-1 TV special, “Stolen Elections: Half of Americans Still Don’t Believe in Biden’s Victory,” is aligned with a familiar narrative on Russian airwaves and social media platforms. Last week, Russian parliament member Alexey Pushkov wrote on his Telegram channel: “[U.S. President Joe Biden] will not be able to restore the old image of the United States as a law-based, transparent, democratic nation. Even before, this image was false, but after the scandalous elections of 2020 it collapsed completely... America looks like a house of cards that is falling apart.”

The program showcased interviews with several Trump supporters who raged about “stolen elections” and alleged instances of “election fraud.” Sitting down with Russian state media, Arizona congressional candidate Jeff Zink described instances of “suspicious” election records he claimed to have personally observed. Zink told the Kremlin-funded state TV channel: “We know that the elections were stolen, so my son and I went to Washington on January 6th.” Zink’s son, Ryan Scott Zink, is facing federal charges of obstructing an official proceeding, knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building, violent entry and disorderly conduct.

Throughout the broadcast, Davydov sympathetically downplayed the actions of Capitol rioters by claiming that they merely “decided to enter the temple of democracy,” describing the lawmakers under attack as “representatives hiding from their own voters.” The state TV reporter described the Jan. 6 Commission as a committee “composed of Democrats and several Republicans who hate Trump,” using a clip from Fox News to corroborate this perspective.

Fox News is one of the most-frequently showcased American channels in Russia, unquestionably favored by state media. When Putin latched on to the coverage of Ashli Babbitt—and Tucker Carlson reiterated the president’s questions on his show—Kremlin propagandists described it as a “bullseye” accomplishment for Moscow’s ongoing efforts to influence public opinion in the United States.

The conclusion of the Jan. 6 special on Russian state television was just as telling as the title of the segment. Davydov noted: “Officially, Biden won the election, but he could not convince the Americans of his fair victory… A year has passed, the two Americas—supporters and opponents of Trump—remain in hand-to-hand combat and continue to clash.” Davydov concluded his reportage on an ominous note: “In the next presidential election, neither side will agree to admit defeat.”

A group of Pennsylvania truckers is calling for justice for deceased Capitol rioter Ashli Babbitt as they prepare to head to Washington, D.C. as part of a convoy protest modeled after the recent one in Canada.

"On Wednesday, a convoy of an undetermined number of truckers is set to leave Scranton and head for the nation’s capital by way of Harrisburg, where the first of many grievances will be aired," PennLive.com reports.

Bob Bolus, who owns a trucking parts and towing service business, is an organizer of the convoy. Bolus "reeled off a litany of grievances that touched on subjects such as critical race theory, foreign oil imports and pandemic restrictions," PennLive reports.

In Harrisburg, the truckers reportedly will protest the recent renaming of two streets after President Joe Biden. They will be "rallying for a return of the Trump era."

“Donald Trump had the country solid," Bolus said. "Industry was thriving and so was everything else. Americans for the first time were enjoying a convenient, exuberant economy. Now it’s gone the other way. We can’t pay our heating bills. We can’t buy groceries. We can’t do this and we can’t do that. All our rights have been taken away. They patronize illegals. They patronize BLMs.”

According to PennLive, the truckers will also be calling for legal recourse for the death of Ashli Babitt, a Jan. 6 insurrectionist who was shot dead by a Capitol police officer as she tried to breach the Capitol."

“We want justice for Ashli,” Bolus said.

I was convinced at the time and remain convinced that the extreme measures taken by Capitol police to protect the lives of the rioters was heroic and the right thing to do.

One person was shot to defend our elected lawmakers. They gave her plenty of warning and time to stand down but she pressed on. The world is a better place without her in it.

Vanity Fair reporter Jeff Sharlet recently attended a "Justice for Ashli Babbitt" rally in Sacramento, California and came away with the distinct feeling that she had become something akin to a religious "martyr."

As an example, he cites a speech given at the rally by former radio host Jamie Allman, who was fired from his job in 2018 for saying he wanted to "ram a hot poker" up the rear end of a Parkland school shooting survivor.

During his speech, Allman declared January 6 to be "one of the most beautiful days I’ve seen in America" before paying tribute to Babbitt.

"Ashli Babbitt does not want you to be afraid ever again," he tells the crowd, despite the fact that Babbitt is not alive and was fatally shot by a Capitol police officer during the January 6th Capitol riots. "What her death does, when we compare it to Crispus Attucks, is—it calls for a revolution!"

Also attending the rally was Michelle Witthoeft, Ashli Babbitt's mother, who told the crowd that "there’s no shame in what happened January 6" and encouraged them to "be proud white Americans."

Sharlet also met a "self-declared militiaman named Richard" at the rally who was "draped in a dress-length T-shirt split vertically between the flag and Christ," and who called the day honoring Babbitt's death "sacred."

During their hearing Tuesday, the Jan. 6 committee presented evidence showing that Donald Trump's former campaign manager Brad Parscale expressed remorse in exchanged texts with former Trump adviser Katrina Pierson.

Parscale said that he felt "guilty" about helping Trump win in 2016 in light of events that took place on Jan. 6, namely the killing of Trump supporter and Capitol rioter Ashli Babbitt.

Parscale referred to Trump as “a sitting president asking for civil war,” in regards to his efforts to overturn the election.

Pierson replied, “You did what you felt right at the time and therefore it was right.”

“Yeah, but a woman is dead,” Parscale said, later adding, “If I was Trump and I knew my rhetoric killed someone.”

Pierson replied, “It wasn’t the rhetoric.”

“Katrina,” Parscale said. “Yes it was.”

The assault on the Capitol left at least five people dead and 140 police officers injured, and followed a fiery speech by Trump to thousands of his supporters near the White House.
