I know this might be a really newbie question but how can you tell if its sativa or indica just by looking at it?

Some plants are cross-bred, but I think sativa is a taller skinny plant if not trimmed and left to grow naturally. Indica is a more bushy variety I think.

My plants are 80% sativa, 20% indica.

I dont know how accurate this would be but I have almost alays found indica to have narrower leaves and sativa seem broader.

Its easier to tell a purer sativa than a indica...if your leaves are very narrow its almost 100% SATIVA...BUT A PLANT WITH A FATTER , sorry cap lock.. fatter leaf is more indica... my jamaican is all sativa..no doubt, but my others are impossible to say percentages...... height is also in the mix in other words ?????????????????

Narrow leaves = Sativa dominance; Wide Leaves = Indica dominance; Medium width = equality (or close to equality) of Sativa / Indica.

Once you see a few pictures of each with dominance... it's pretty easy to tell.

Indica strains tend to be more x-mas tree shaped lots of branching when un pruned and fan leaves are really fat , kinda like a bush. sativa strains tend to be tall and have skinny leaves and light branching, like a tree but unless you got your seeds from some where good, its a hybrid of some sort

simply : indica is short and fat leaves ( if it's pure or indica dominate ) tight bud structure. Sativa is tall and bigger plant, seperated bud structure, narrower leaves.

indica : stoney ( sometimes little high then deep stoney )
Sativa : enertic, high, celebral, after stoney effect
hybridts 50/50 indica/sativa... both effect in it... well guys i think yu know it ;) LOL!

Why does everyone point out that the person had it backwards. I am pretty sure that is evident after the first correction was made.

this isent 100% because it has to do with phenos but indica plants pistels usualy get realy dark almost red ans sativas hairs go orange to a yellow. Sativas trics are usualy smaller and indicas usualy larger but not always just most of the time :bigjoint:

most of the time indicas make fatter denser buds and have wider leaves....sativas have longer whispy buds that are usually looser and the leaves look like spider legs
