This is what ive seen and part of the reason i was asking, but a very good point thank you! From what ive read TGA is a fairly good breeder right? I would probably get some of their seeds unless someone had negative feedback or something.
From what I know through research or actual experience, DNA, Serious Seeds, Dr Greenthumb, Sannae's seeds, Mr Nice, Barney's Farm & TGA subcool are topnotch breeders. You can buy thier gear blindfold and you will get a winner. There are others on the lists from McCoy & Indica man which seem to have good reps but I haven't checked them out. It takes work to figure this out. I've just ordered some TGA gear for the first time.
Breeders usually don't retail their seeds themselves, they sell them through seedbanks like Attitude. Attitude is not a breeder, they sell other people's seeds. Nirvana is a bit unusual in that they are a seed bank selling their own strains.
Nirvana is a mid level breeder. Some of their stuff is great, some is flakey (unstable) and some of it is crap. I was disappointed in their AK47 but I hear the AK47 from Serious Seeds is kickass.
Even with the top breeders, it pays to research any specific strain you want to grow. You want to know what it's like to grow: height, flowering time, ease of cultivation, kind of high and for some, yield is important. Also even top breeders have strains that are more stable then others. You are going to put a lot of work into these plants, it pays to do some of it up front.
In general one should think in terms of a
specific strain from a
specific breeder. It's like wine, not all Cabernets are the same. Never pay attention to the hype the breeders write about their strains. It's like the blurb on the wine bottle label. Listen to the people who've grown the stuff.
I can run 9 plants in my closet. I like to grow several different strains, two or three plants of each. If I am only growing a few plants I want to know that I am getting what I expected not some quirky phenom. If you read peoples grow logs you will see this happens quite a lot.
Everybody plays the game his own way. You can pay as much as $20 a seed from the top breeders. Some people feel this is too much. Nirvana seeds are like $5. IMO considering all the time, effort money and risk (In not growing legally) I put into raising a plant, an extra $5-$15 per seed is nickle and dime if it buys me quality.
