Samsung H series strips, Arrow seems to be blowing them out! what a deal!

I recieved my drivers, were a week late, fed ex couldn’t find my house, a second time, had ordered some led strips that showed in 4 days to Canada, which is impressive. Got my drivers anyways, they look good, thank you again for the heads up @ilovereggae 4 x 48v150s, they went down to $9 before selling out, doing up some side lights I guess, bust out into the led world. Thanks to I think @haze010 as well for the link to the f-strips post, wish I scored some warm colours too.

once again I can't take credit. @The Loafter found the original deals on those drivers, and @babybud had grabbed some too. I just posted them again when I saw them drop even more.

also fwiw I did call Arrow to find out about warranties they said I have to contact the mfg directly on that. I also asked how the pricing worked and how was it possible to be getting stuff so cheap. they said its all automated and compares competitors pricing and a bunch of other metrics. it runs every 10 minutes so if you see a deal, you are only guaranteed that price based on when u add it to your shopping cart. if the price changes before you check out, and you change quantity it will update your cart to the new price. something to keep in mind. also they do price matching so if you find something cheaper on Digikey screenshot it and then buy on Arrow to get the free shipping.

Well looks like y’all brought up all the strips. I’ve done some supplemental strip light builds but never a full fixture. For a 4x4 space size fixture how long do it usually take y’all to wire up y’all strip fixtures. That was the thing holding me back from using strips.

i build mine in a couple hours.....maybe longer depending on how many joints i smoke. here is a quick build: 20201015_201125.jpg

Extra thanks to all the folks who helped....i cannot name them all but first off Haze and BabyBud for the deals and everyone else for the help understanding this subject! I asked a LOT of dumb questions an when no body else would help babybud was patient enough to explain it the best he could. Thanks all!

Just finished the test light. I missed out on the F/H series sale so trying out some cheap M series for small veg lights. 2' 3000k were $0.83/ea and 2' 4000K were $0.63/ea. They use LM561B diodes and are a bit less efficient but for the price, I figured what the hell.

Going to build a few more. Pulling ~100w to cover a 2x2.

Builds look great. I grabbed some of the 90cri 561b's so would love to hear what you think of them.

I had some of the 24 diode ones running for a few hours when I first got them. Couldn't feel any heat whatsoever at roughly 325ma per strip. That was running the strips below even the nominal current, but being so cheap I plan on running them pretty soft.

Should all depend how hard you run themand diode count per strips as far as heatsink needs though.

it took me pumping 35 watts to a 33w strip to get it real hot. At that point you would need a heat sink. 20 watts or less is not going to get hot enough for a heatsink but if you had one it may increase the life of your diodes but were already running um soft in this thread so you will be fine.

I used superglue on the pvc. made 3 fixtures like that. The dog knocks the superglue loose but when i messed up and glued the wrong spot , that shit was tough! i had to almost break the strip to get it loose.

After all my research ....a lm561b blows away an hps or any round bulb light source.

The 4000k strips I’m using have 24 diodes & the 3000k strips have 32 diodes. I ran them for an hour at 10w/strip and the highest reading I got was 45C on the 4000k strips and that was with no airflow.

I ordered a bunch of the same 3k 32 diode strips as you and some of the $10 Delta drivers mentioned in the Arrow H or F - series thread to play around with and build something with no heatsinks.
Making your own lights is still new to me, let alone designing one, so $0.83 strips and $10 drivers fit the bill in case I get it wrong and things go pop. Which makes your build very helpful since I have pretty much the exact same components.
Does your 2x2 veg light work out to about 400ma per strip? I have a Delta 48v 120w 2.5A driver and was contemplating running 8 (groups of 2 of the strips in series), in parallel for a total of 16 strips with no heatsinks, for a 2x2. I think that gives each series of 2 strips 300ma-ish? I figure if that is correct (help please!) then if your rig is running cool enough then my planned build should too.

Yeah the frame and wiring can be a PITA sometimes. I put one piece of angle across the middle to mount the driver and help support the strips, they are a bit flimsy and will sag if you don't support the center.

You are correct, my 2x2 light comes out to just under 420ma per strip. The 3k 32 diode strips were only reaching 30-35C. They are rated at 720ma. The 4k 24 diode strips were obviously running a bit warmer at 40-45C. Those are rated at 450ma. Not too concerned if they burn out early considering how cheap they are. In the grow room they will also get a bit of air movement and probably run even cooler.

You have the right idea, although I think you would be fine running 12 strips at ~420ma. They will still run cool. My 2x2 light is actually 22 1/4" since the strips are 22". With 10 strips, I have them spaced 1 1/2". With 16 strips you might have them a bit crowded and might not benefit all that much running them softer ~300ma if they are positioned so close together.

Any input would be appreciated.

Everything in the top quality category of LED's is very expensive.
This thread links you to workarounds and cheap prices. The cheap prices make it to where we do not have to run a heatsink. You would just run more strips at a lower current to get the same output.

How many strips are you going to run and what driver/s are you going to use ?
