Sample Hydro After 5 Days Curing - Pics

Hey All,

So I'll admit to sampling a small bowl from my newly harvested plant on two occasions, 1) after the plant dryed but before it went in the jar, and 2) tonight, after curing for 5 days. The taste and smell definetely tasted less like grass clippings tonight, though still harsh and green tasteing. The high is just as good as any of the premium bud that I've found yet.

The plant lost another 2 g's, I'll say I smoked one, so the plant lost another g as well. It weighed 18g's today

From what I've learned here and read I understand that the aroma, taste, and potency will all get better with propper aging.

So how much longer should I open the top of the jar for? A week, a month? How will I know?

After sealing the jar for long term curring, what is the optimum length of time to leave it sealed? If 2 months of curring makes it good, will 6 months make it even better?

Should I break the bud apart for curring? I guess I could if it would help, but I do like having the big bud

How long is commercial weed cured? curiosity

Please let me know your opinions on the harvest. Does it look like it was fully ripe. It actually flowered for 13 weeks - see thread if interested.

looks good brov, killer bud. i hang dry mine until it is crispy outside but the stem still bends without snapping, then i go into the jars. i open it 2-3 times a day (while i smoke it) for a weeks or so, then is can be closed up as long as it doesn't feel wet. then it can cure for up to 4 months, then it will not get any better and will start getting worse. enjoy that herb, it looks good, late.

Thanks, man

It's been in the jar for 5 days now and still doesn't smell too great, and the smoke was still quite harsh when I tried it yesterday. Will the aroma, taste, and potency improve? How long?

yeah, if you hung dry it correctly, then the cure will take all of that away in a matter of a couple more days. Did you hang it out until crispy?? I would even venture out n say that maybe you should have throw your bud into a paper bag for a day or two to sweat out some extra moisture from the inside of the bud, and then hung it out to dry again for another day or two before you cured it. The whole point is to make sure that the chlorophyl makes its way out of the nugget, and any residual moisture inside that bud is gonna slow down the process. Granted, its a good thing to keep some moisture in the bud for curing, and also to give it a nice sticky, "you can leave a fingerprint in the bud if you squeeze it cuz its so dank" danky feel to it, but this is where people find theyre own personal preference. Im still learning the process myself, and i prefer the slightly fruity scent when done, with a danky, almost smooshy feel to it, lol. I still dont know how to achieve it, but thats what people pay the most for around here anyways, so its obviously the most desired affect. Its almost like people will try n call bullshit on you if you say you got some dank and its not actually DANKY, lol - like if its dried out, theyll try n say you just got some really really good commercial , and its not really the White widow that you say it is, which is worth fuckin 300 - 350 an oz. fuckin bullshit

sorry bout goin off topic there, but im sure you get the point from what i said ON topic, lol.

good luck next round man, n i hope that bud turns out nice in the long run too.

-K1.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! I've been open the jar everyday for the past nine days. How long should I open it for? After 9 days it still smells very green, like lawn clippings. I did sample and the high was just as good as any any other high grade, but it didn't taste or smell good

How much longer in the jar and should I continue to open it every day?
