Never take pictures with your cell phone, always use a digital camera. If you use your cellphone I've heard it is possible to trace pics back to you.

everytime a picture is taken on a smartphone the gps coordinates are inbeded in the picture information which you are unable to delete. I felt and still feel the same way yet I still do it lol... But I use a digital camera transfer the pics not to my computer but to a flash drive where I edit and do whatever to them. Then I go straight from the flash drive to the website that way it's not linked to my computer either ( I think) but honestly if the popo really wanna find ya all they have to do is look at the IP address that logs in. I tell myself out of the thousands of members here can they even afford to waste the time reading through journals and such unless their gathering it for extra evidence ontop of an already ongoing case.. My thoughts only IDK for sure.

btw Im pretty sure in the agreement to join RIU "By clicking the agree button you confirm that you do not work or are associated with any government agency, and information obtained through this site will be inadmissible in a court of law." Now IDK if that would hold up in court or not.

theres no reason to be paranoid. just cover your tracks. don't label. don't share email addresses. you'll be fine. i post pics from my cell phone every day. just saying ;-)

When you take a photo with your camera, make sure you re-save it as a new jpeg file (or whatever format you want) so that the EXIF data will not show up on the file you upload. EXIF data includes the make and serial number of your camera, in addition to the setting used for the photo...don't know about you, but I don't want my camera's serial number to be attached to bud pics posted online...

Just resave your photos like ddimebag said and your fine. If you get caught by the law it wont be because you posted pics online, they'll be on to you for other reasons before that. Unless your posting pictures of a 10,000 plant grow, then they might look for you lol.

If you take a pic with a smart phone but use an online host like photo bucket or tinypic, will the EXIF data still show up on the posted photo?

Thanks.

keep um hangin.

I believe so if the file is unedited. But seriously, unless your growing a large large amount, dont worry about posting pictures on here, no one is looking to open a case against you based on a pic of 3 plants posted online. Be smart, be discreet, and obviously dont include anything obviously, like ur face or a landmark in your photos. Grow your weed and have some balls, and be smart. Unless you got a warrant out for you, As a former professional photographer (did it for a living for 3 years including 7 months paid in hawaii . . . awesome) I wouldnt worry about camera serial numbers unless they are already looking for you.

No its a program for linux. I transfer my photos from my phone and put them in a directory and run jhead to delete the exif data. There are similar programs for windows and mac as well. ExifCleaner is a program for windows if you are interested.

Smart phones will get you busted... only use digital camera's and make sure you scrub off exif data from the photos before posting them.
