Yo growmies

I have attached my diary.

Should I run ph neutral water through to correct the ph of the run off at such a late stage in flower?

In put is 6.1 & run off is 5.3

Still a newb and planting seeds of knowledge everyday.

Keep growing!!!

Should you wish to correct it, then use ph of 8 or so, run it through for a bit each watering , checking runoff until desired zone is hit, then use correct ph for your setup.

Interesting @fastfredd... so running through silicon and water would be the quick fix ??

Why are you checking runoff pH? Are you having plant issues? I've never checked runoff pH. Input pH is what matters.
Right so the reason behind this.
Alike many scientific experiments that involve measurements there is a before and after.

If I measure my ec on input and output. I can figure out whether my girls are taking up more nutrients or water based on the output of the ec being lower or higher.

To my knowledge if it is higher it means.
a) that my girls are taking up more water than nutrients.
b) or there is a build up of salts and nutrients in the medium. (Coco perlite mix). So a regular irrigation of water is ran through to reset the medium.

If it is lower then I know that my girls are drinking up more nutes than water so it's a good sign to increase the EC.

If the EC is the same on input as drainage. Then I know that the plant is getting a well balanced diet of diluted nutrients.

So the pH of the run off will indicate the pH of the root zone. For my medium the ideal is between 5.5 - 6.5.

5.5 - 5.8 during veg and 5.8 - 6.2 during flower. As these are the ideal pH ranges for selective nutrient uptake.

So for optimum plant biology and development to stay within these parameters is surely a step in the right direction.

What do you think @twentyeight.threefive

Ignore runoff pH. It will only have you chasing issues that aren't there. I only would check runoff EC if your plants are having issues. If you want to know what to feed them start at a low EC and slowly increase until you start to see them have issues, tip burn etc.

You should regularly feeding them to runoff in order to keep the coco moist and prevent EC spiking in the coco.

Hold have asked medium...I'm sorry op I thought soil.
Twenty8 35 knows this medium well.

I do raise my ph in coco as flowering goes on slightly. In veg I stay around 5.7-5.9 and flower 6.0-6.2. Seems to work for me. At week 7 of flower assuming you're not growing an 11 week pheno you are probably closing in on the finish. If plants aren't showing any signs of problems or lockout etc. I would continue as you have or maybe raise ph to 6.3 for next feed. I'm in week 7 of flower at 6.2 ph and I think a week or so ago had a lower ph. I typically just check ppm of runoff in coco to make sure it's not crazy high. Watering to good runoff each feeding by hand is what I do. I don't have experience yet with the automated frequent feedings many do, I use 3-5 gallon pots and water before they're too dry, every other day at moment halfway through week 7. Just my second coco grow but things have gone much better then soil grows I was doing previously.

They'd continue to improved if you feed them daily. I feed at 5.8 start to finish but everyone does things different.

I also feed daily for 15 minutes 2 hours after lights on. Using double drippers in each.

I raised from 5.8 to 6.1 but run off is 5.3. Its not major but slightly off where I would prefer it to be.

Guess all we can do is go again and when things are stabilised see if things improve or not. My girls are looking pretty good. Just looking to do a heavy ish defoliation.

I feed once as this works great for my humidity levels in the enviroment I have. I find that when I feed later let's say 4 hours before lights off they are sitting in nutes a little longer and it messes with my VPD. So I aim to have a good irrigation 2 hours after lights on and they seem happy with that for now.

More runoff if EC gets higher not straight water.Hand feeding every now and again between auto feeds will help keep EC down.this in turn raises ph.
Low ph=not enough runoff= build up=low ph etc...

They should be watered to run off and never sitting in the runoff. Runoff should not be in direct contact with the pot or roots and drained away.
