So a friend of mine bought 3 ounces of shatter(internet) we will leave out the distributor for now the shatter was very light yellow it was very Ductile kind of like plastic. You smoked it and it exploded obviously not purged correctly. So I filmed it on a Pyrex and heat pack (I don’t have vacuum system). Product now shatters(breaks like glass)an indication that I have done a significant job removing impurities. No matter what I’ve done so far that rubber taste is still there even though I have significantly reduced the amount of solvent. I have played around with a few Grams and different heats and etc nothing gets that taste out.(lipids? Metals?) I’m currently looking into using the winterization process but due to funds I only have access to pure medical grade methanol. I understand all the risks associated with methanol consumption and I know I will need to make sure I get it all out. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it taste like burnt rubber it seems like this is a reoccurring flavour on botched runs(forum repeat). Also can anyone give me tips that don’t involve vacuum to ensure that my methanol is fully purged. Is this a lost cause ? will I ever get that stank burnt rubber flavour out of my extract. thanks

Hey I have been doing this long enough to know the quality of product used to make shatter it’s never top shelf and even when I make my own it’s not the best buds. I’m looking for specifics not warnings. Buyer beware for sure. This is a reputable Canadian distributor operating in the “grey areas”. BHO is still prohibited because butane is not food grade. They supply dispensaries and the like with there CO2 base. So yeah don’t put anything in your body you don’t know but that goes for every producer you just don’t know. Again I have three oz of garbage or I reach out and get some ideas from different people with different experiences and maybe get some answers to how I can fix a bad situation.
Normally I don’t mess with BHO for this very reason

You wont get that rubber taste out. Adding more chemicals to an already melting pot of who knows what isnt going to help you. This is the kind of shit that makes weed look bad. And the people who smoke look like fools. Im sure the media will love to run a story about some guy who got sick or died from some online drug deals.

See now we are on to something, I keep seeing this flavour profile attributed to heat.I can get my oil to taste like that by boiling it with sugar to make hard candies. Instructions say to add oil after removing from heat.
