Rosin

Is it going to take.

Some in CA and CO have already started to put some serious work into innovative tech out there. A few companies have opened their doors in the last year.

They are saying it's potent, clean medicine.

(if you are reading this save yourself $450 - 700 and stay far away from the double sided heat (ahh hm t shirt) press. The math does not add up, ie: that dog won't hunt)

I use a high end hair straightener with a hand pump press. Squeezed a 3 gram slab from about 5 grams of dry sift pressed and wrapped in a tea bag.

I did come across an enail company can't remember who. But they had electronic pucks with a digital control set up to retrofit an arbor press. This would allow for some extreme pressure while keeping heat low.

That's a pretty good return and some fire looking rosin. I believe the press your talking about is sold by Medisun Farms:

Pretty solid setup. Of course if you piece it together you could get it for much cheaper. But that would mean building your own PID and having your own plates manufactured.

Yeah that's the one. Pretty slick imo but a little much at $600. I'm still using the hair straightener that I got for free and can squeeze out enough oil to smoke for a week. I just keep the dry sift in jars in the refrigerator press it into pucks wrap in tea bag and press.

I do this because right now oil is in a legal gray area here in mi and I don't want oz's of oil setting around.

blue dream rosin. Made with 2" Remington "wet 2 strait".
I really want a d-nail press because I've seen one in action. It pressed out 1000+ dabs in one day at a festival. At only like $350, they've been on back order for awhile.
I think the fad will stick, because it allows easy access to quality oil for everyone

Haha I've been using the wet 2 straight for some time now. Outlasted many others. Problem is the holes in the iron and channels. That being said I can press about 10gs of flower at a time and get 1.6-2gs of return from some outdoor organic nug from this summer. I use a desktop vice from ACE and my setup cost me about $30 for the vice and $10 for the straightener. My method is:
1. Garlic press nugs wrapped in parchment into 5g patties
2. Take 2 5g patties and put them in the bottom of a 25u tea bag from who ever you get them from.
3. Fold the bag into a rectangle and press with vice and straightener at lowest setting and for as short of time as possible.

I find pressing flowers impregnates the oil with an abv taste. I use dry sift...can make half oz of oil pretty quick using the dry sift wizard tek and hair straightener tek.

It takes me forever to get any yeild. Next time I'm going to try 5 gram pucks out of a garlic press, and hope for a .5 or more return. Thanks terpcilia!

Yes I'm taking it to sift first.
Dry sift works great too. Just try to minimize the dry ice sift when doing trim. I did dry ice sift with nug and it turned out pretty awesome still. Took an ounce of nug to rosin in about 30 minutes or less. We were just chillin so we weren't really rushing it.

Do separate runs. Sift for 30 seconds first then collect and finish.
Prepress Sift in parchment into puck and let cool.
Put inside screen or coffee filter and then squish.
Keif must be in a filter of some sort.

What do you mean "abv taste"?

He means "already been vaped - abv "

Yeah it seems to add a vaped bud taste to the oil. I dunno I guess I just like the oil to be so thick in flavor you can almost chew the smoke and when I taste weird things it turns me off.

It seems to be worse with certain strains and probably over heating a little bit, but I feel with using dry sift you have very little plant matter so the vaped bud taste does not exist.

And by "dry sift" I do not mean Dry Ice sift. That stuff is wretched and full of plant matter and pistillate hairs.

This is what my Sift looks like before I press.

Bubble hash rosin 120u and 45u

For flowers. I pre squish them. Til they're a solid puck. I press 0.3 - 0.5 at a time. Then I press with a straightener at 300 degrees for 5-7 seconds

For bubble or sift or kief. I press about 1-2 grams at a time through a 25u screen at 250 degrees for 8-10 seconds.

I use raw parchment or tfx non stick cooking paper.
