Roots too big, advice please!

I'm growing in a wilma drip system, and I've been in veg for two months, and the roots are slowing the water returning to the res as they are blocking up the main return hole.

I am reluctant to cut them, this would be detrimental but I don't know what else I can do, has anyone experienced this can give any advice? I was thinking of just pulling the roots back out the hole and res water and try to lay it next to the pots and hope water hits them still.

I fear if I don't do anything it will eventually overflow. Any advice much appreciated!

i have the same problem in my aroe chambers look cut it off you got enough roots n pull the roots into your habitat if you want to save stop running root enhancers dude that my life story cut some off it will be okay dont cut it all just enough so water can get buy.. if this is song lee go fuck yourself... just saying lolz

Cutting roots will shock the hell out of them. If you can pull a little out in the light let it dye out on it's own and the plant will be fine. Just do a little at a time. Also you can gently roll them like you would hair and move them. Bigger mass but harder for water to move them so it's like training the roots.

Cheers for fast response guys, my res was about ready to overflow. I manages to pull all the roots out, which wasn't easy. I'm really reluctant to cut them at the mo, I've put them underneath unused pots which would have had root there anyway if I'd have been doing a sog, (I'm doing a scrog). I also put them in the water path so hopefully none of them die.

Little bits of root did break off when I pulled em through the drain hole, should I worry about them sitting in my res? It's just I can't lift the lid on it now, my plants are about to flower and under a screen, so it would be a difficult task to remove em.

man i pulle big ass plants n nevor had a problem i run aroe n the fucken plants get so big n the roots clog my two inch hole i cut n i pull back on the roots look at his big bud indoor its a monster i wish i could have showed you all of her i didnt see a problem but this guy might have gone threw something i nevor did but i didnt ever n still dont ever have a problem wen my drains pluged i cut not alot just enough in weeks 6 or 7 or 8....death widow swollen one more week.jpg

Cutting the roots you will be fine... I vegged for 5 weeks in a kick ass aero system and all the roots grew together in one big clump (4 plants). I had to hack off about 50% of each plants root mass to transfer them to the flowing system and they were just fine... i actually think hacking the roots helped to curtail the stretch.

I also had a problem with roots plugging the drain hole and to get around it i stuck a dollar store colander into the bottom of each 5 gal bucket and I spin the plants once a week. (This keeps the majority of the root mass in the colander and out of the drain).
