Root bound yet?

I am growing outdoors in 100 gallon smart pots. They have been put in my own spin off of subcool's super soil. They were transplanted from 40 gallon pots to the 100 gallons back in May. Do I want to be root bound by now seeing that they are just now begginging to flower or does it matter?

So ideally do you want to plant to be root bound by the time it reaches the flowering stage?
I personally don't want my plants to be rootbound during flowering because that can lead to other issues stress and root problems etc.....I doubt your rootbound in 100 gallon pot .....what makes you think you are and what kind of 100 gal pot you in.

Well that's even more likely that he's not root bound due to air pruning with smart pots ........plus how big is the plant in the first place and further more if those smart pots are sitting on dirt themselves the roots are guna grow straight threw the smart pot and into the ground ......there's lots of variables that OP hasn't explained ........but I'm mostly interested in why he wants to be rootbound in the first place ....

Yeah I would be super suprised if you were root bound in smart pot with plants that size after transplanting when you did .....I've got over 8 footers in half that soil without issue ....except of course having to water pretty frequent it's actually a friends grow I'm helping her with cause she's got terminal cancer and fell and broke her hip so I'm tending her garden for her .....I got my girls in the ground in my own personal grows .......but a 100 gal smart your set up good to be successful if you do things rite IMO

Everybody always wishes they had a bigger root.
Us guys man it's always who's is bigger /faster/nicer......but IMO when it comes to mmj giant plants don't mean your smoke is any better than a 2 ft plant .......it's just yielding more ......when I see good medicine it don't make a difference if it came off a multi pounder or a couple ounce plant ......level playing field as far as quality IMO

My plants are starting to bud but the leaves are really miniturized and light green compared to the dark green of the majority of the plant? What does that mean?

It just doesn't look right to me. almost like they're really needing nitrogen. I just finished a few hours ago giving them a mixture of one half age old grow and one half age old bloom.
