Going on day 48 of flower and I've been noticing little black winged bugs walking along the soil and the bucket(Just on my grape ape)and flying around, not to many but at least close to 10.....WTF!?:cuss:

I've seen pics of root aphids and they look like ticks these are smaller with wings..

pheeeeew! Been looking around online all morning and came acroos "fungus gnats"
I cant fucking tell if its a fungus gnat or winged aphid
Fuck the bullshit jus gonna harvest before its to late

put plastic wrap on top of the soil for a few days and it smothers then so they get to O2, but neither do your roots, be careful but it works.

would putting the wrap over the soil be almost like drowning the roots before harvest? because if so I'll do the wrap and leave untill i harvest next week?

Do they fly weak and zig zagged or do they fly solid and fast? Fungus gnats are a little smaller and weaker than root aphids and can't fly as good, and are easier to catch and smash.

they seem slow and I can smash them easily when walking on the bucket
i looked uo fungus gnats and they look bigger and skinnier then these ones...idk:confused:

Sounds like gnats to me. Remember they have different stages of development, the ones you have might be juveniles. They're not hard to get rid of. Most of the time letting your soil dry out real good before watering does the trick. They like moist soil and overwatered soil. The winged adults don't feed, only the larvae feed on the roots. Gnatrol works good and so does Azamax drenches or Mighty Wash drenches.

This is why I use grow bags...
If you can get a look at the rootball between the top layer and 3-4 inches down you will be able to see either little root aphid nymphs or little fungus gnat larvae...

If you have nymphs, you likely have larvae too... so look real close for the nymphs... just stare at a spot for 10-15 seconds and let your peripheral vision pickup the slightest movement.

Does the plastic wrap really work for root aphids? I've seen them come and go from drainage holes with no problems.
