Romney wants to Privatize Veteran's HC program

It's like the Republicans dont want to win the presidency... With Cain blowing his chances, Romney is in position - as he mostly has been anyway - to win the Republican nomination. Romney, currently the candidate widely considered to have the best chance at beating Obama in 2012 suggested what amounts to a voucher system for US veteran Healthcare:
“Sometimes you wonder, would there be some way to introduce some private sector competition, somebody else that could come in and say, you know each soldier gets X thousand dollars attributed to them and then they can choose whether they want to go on the government system or the private system and then it follows them, like what happens with schools in Florida where they have a voucher that follows them, who knows.”
It's funny, because the Veterans healthcare system is superior to comparably priced private insurance and outperforms medicare in both quality of care and cost control. A voucher system would gradually shift a bigger burden onto the consumer (in this case US veterans), without controlling costs or improving quality of care. Cool.

On the plus side, this comment - especially if Romney follows up on it - will cost Romney his competitive edge against Obama in the 2012 elections.

Romney twists and turns so much, he's like a pretzel. With every debate, Newt rises in the polls.

2012 = Newt vs Obama. If this comes to pass, I will be in front of the TV with a bag of popcorn watching with glee Newt destroying Obama in the debates.

Oh mame, the Veterans healthcare system is superior to the private system? What world do you come from? Have you received a lot of care from the VA? I thought you were 22 and a college student. when were you in the armed forces?

Romney is just a whore, he will pander to whatever audience he is currently talking to. The hard core right, the lemmings of Christian zealots all abhor Marijuana, the function Romney was at was most likely attended by those kinds of people. That is what people who seek power do, they lie, cheat, steal, back-stab, trip, throw mothers under buses and kick people in the crotch to get those positions.

Well, now that you mention it those seem to be the very qualifications necessary (see bold type above) to run for the highest office in the land.

VA healthcare sucks
Not because of Quality, although there has been some issues. But because of lack of facilities and resources.

Newt hasn't a chance - I thought character was important to Republicans. And finally, do you actually believe Obama would agree to a debate?

Due to the nature of these types of very large systems there is almost always going to be somewhere to improve upon and there will always be somebody with a horror story, that's just reality.

VA Hospitals are among the best in the nation, and the program has controlled costs more effectively than medicare. In terms of accessibility (facilities, etc) the VA system also outperforms medicare. Obviously I dont use the system, but the statistics dont lie; The VA system is mostly fine, and is better than what many Americans recieve. And yes, compared to comparitively priced private insurance in the US the VA system is better.
