ROLS Using a raised bed?

Just wondering if there is anybody out there using a raised bed indoors for ROLS(real organic living soil). Ive been growing organic for some time now and have had the notion of doing a raised bed instead of planters.

What do you guys think?

I wouldn't think it would go too bad, as long as you sexed the plants before putting them into the bed. You wouldn't be able to cram a lot of plants like you can with planters, as the smaller/weaker plants will get overtaken by whichever is the biggest. It'd be hard to remove problem plants since everything would have intertwining root systems. I really don't see any advantage to doing it, unless I am missing something?

Soil beds should be good for rols. All kinds of microbes. The pants won't battle each other. They actually communicate through the roots and work together. The down side is not being able to rotate plants. Just topdress with plenty of vc and water with some teas. They will be happy.

very good point that's one thing that stops me from doing the bed thing ... I hate seeing premium light being wasted on soil. I like growing ROLS in 7 gals container, seems like a good number for indoor.

Cant wait to see, foreverflyhi. Please keep us posted on how it works. I thought doing a raised bed would be the next step into the organic growing. My thinking is that it would be the next best thing to mother nature herself. I just wanna make sure its gonna be worth the effort.

I used to do soma style beds with ffof years ago. Before I ever started rols. I stopped because I hated the cleanup after the grow. It was a bitch. With rols, it should kick some ass. No cleanup. Just topdress. I suggest using fabric beds. Line the bottom with a layer of pumice. All the fabric pot companies make and sell fabric beds. , smart pot, root pouch, viagrowtm, etc. .. Check amazon.
