Roleadro 400w Cob Question

Hey y’all, so I bought a Roleadro with only one working led ($50). I replaced both of them with two CLU48-1212. Anyways, I was wondering if the fans only turn on when it reaches a certain temperature or if my fans are just broken? They move a tiny bit back and forth when turned on. I also took out two of the drivers if that makes a difference. Thanks!

If you dont see any kind of sensor, or anything else attached to the fans, they should be running if the light is on. Do you see any spare wires besides the ones that power things?

Well you can see two yellow wires connected to one of the heat sinks

Edit: okay so I attached one of the led drivers I took out and it causes the fans to alternate on and off. The led driver it’s supposed to connect to is smaller and in the middle

I worked on one of these once as well, it does have a separate 12v driver, but I also had to replace both fans due to failure. They also ran 2 drivers per cob, so that sounds right that you didn't use half of them.

Doh, do you think it would be the fans of the driver?
Well did you remove a small driver or two that happens connected to the fans? Follow the wires from them to the driver they're on. If it's wired and fans aren't turning on, the fans need to be replaced. I wouldn't use the cobs without them. They'll get too hot eventually and break.

No, both of the fans are connected to a single 12v driver. It most likely is the fans though. Guess I’ll get new ones and see if that works, thanks guys!

It's very possible it could instead be the driver. If you've got a multimeter, plug it in once you've cut the wire or unconnected the connector and test it to see if the drivers putting out 12v like it should. If not, meabwell has a driver for less than $10 called an APV-12-12. As long as you use .5A PC fans, that will run them both.

Isn’t Roleandro shit anyway? The Citizen COBs for the unit are a definite upgrade. At least you have a frame.

Fans are probably broken or disconnected. Nice modification!

Barely even $5.
Thanks I'll check it out. I contacted the guy I bought it from so hopefully he can send some replacement parts (he didn't mention the broken fans in the description)
