Rockwool Cubes Germination?

is there anything special you have to do to germinate in a rockwool cube? I was told to run the cube under water for 5 seconds, then place seed. Did this last week and after 2 days i saw bright white where they sprouted so i thought everything was fine.

As of today the seeds were coming out of the cube (the top of the cube) and they were dried up. Looked like the seeds wouldn't open up to let it grow lol. They were pretty old seeds that have been sitting out. Any help is appreciated.

There is method that I use
first I put the rockwool in ph 5.4 water with a few drops of superthrive per lt of water
then they stay in the bucket for 24 hrs
after that I put them in a strainer( like for pasta) and swing it around to get the unneeded water out leaving them moist
then poke a hole with a skewer and place the seed about 7 mm down
spray the cube as much as it needs it to keep moist and when you get a sprout place a clear cup over it with a few holes poked in it
and water it so it stays moist
hope this helped Jimmy
