Was at the local store today picking up some stuff for my next grow
and while I was in the nute section the owner said all his ro water
customers use cal/mag. My ro also has a alkaline filter. Just got it today, not
hooked up yet so don't know the ppm yet. But I'm going with RIU's advice,
so do I need it, cal/mag?

I'll go with cal/mag, why ad tap when it's just what was filtered?
...because you don't need RO to grow hydroponics....tap water will actually provide your plants with elements....once you strip your h20 to near zero with the RO, you'll probably need to add the cal/mag to keep your plants from going deficient (depending on your fertz)........soOOOOOoooooo, you could remedy this by simply adding 1/2 tap, 1/2 ro.....or, just run 100 % tap! (like I do) and save $ and trips to the grow store.

IMO if in soil, just use tap (unless you live in Chernobyl or similar) if you want to stick to RO, you need to get the Ca/mg+ or use Epsom salt and Lime, even with tap you might need to add some Ca/Mg specially the Mg as weed is a Mg loveing plant, Epsom salt is great for that ..
