Calling all future doctors! I think there is room for a thread where people can bitch, complain, argue, spew bullshit, diagnose, false diagnose, flat out troll, and most importantly come clean with whatever ailment you've been hiding for however many years. Having said that... Normal 20's binge drinking, in my early 30's now, and have pulled it back to about 6-8 beer per night. Every night. Rarely do I exceed that, even on weekends/parties. My Q is, am I killing myself? I'm Irish, so I think I have some buffer... I drink .5/75 gallons of water per day, am in good shape, & don't feel bad at all. Unfortunately, I still feel as if I'm not doing my body any favors, though my brain really likes the beer.

of course you're not doing your body any good, as any drug that you put into your body has to go through the liver, and everyone knows booze is a liver killer of the highest calibre... ever heard of cirrhosis?? yeah, me too.. 80% of alcohol goes through the liver to be detoxified, in the process, damaging the liver..

That's what your liver is there for! Given my Irish heritage, I feel I would I come from a long line of road-tested/tough as nails, liver's? Doesn't DNA work that way? Generation after another making do with their surroundings, and the body adapts as such? I should have a pretty tough liver. Jus sayin.

if anything, genetics plays a huge role in the chances of your becoming an alcoholic.. trust me, i come from a long line of alcoholics, and although i am not an alcoholic, i was addicted to pretty much every hard drug out there at one time or another..
science is a bitch like that..

I completely agree that genetics make me more susceptible to alcoholism, but do I have a somewhat prepared liver? Is 6-8 beers anought to kill. It must be noted that Im fine not living to 100. Anything after 70 is a win in my book.

I have hypoglycemia and when I twist my body at my waist my right femur pops out of joint from my hip. It hurts like a bitch every time and it happens at least 15 times a day. I'm 20 and thanks to my moms genetics, I'm developing joint issues already:wall:

It won't kill you right away man, but if you start getting symptoms of jaundice get yourself checked!

I'm Scottish, Irish, English, Welch, Cherokee, and Sioux. I was damned to drink from conception. I didn't really want to become an alcoholic (watching my mother be a fucking drunkard). But I did it anyway. Some people can leave it alone I wasn't one of them. If you can not drink and not be bothered by not drinking then your fine. My brother and myself are in the category of people who have no business touching the stuff. 6-8 beers a night isn't much compared to what some of us have drank on a regular basis, but if it bothers you try to change it. I couldn't on my own I went to Shick Shadels recovery hospital.

You know what, I thought the fun was over forever. But that was bullshit. I've enjoyed my life much much more since quiting. Shit I ain't got time or money for that now anyway. Being Irish you are predisposed to alcoholism. It doesn't mean you should drink without boundaries, which it seems you have figured out. I say as long as your keeping your life together and not hurting anyone else then go ahead and have your beers at night. I don't think your killing yourself. A lot of oldtimers where I live now will take a month off the drinking every year to let their livers heal. I drank every free moment I had, that's how I knew I needed help, so I got it.

It is man! I'm one of those lucky few that has 5 minutes from when the symptoms start to the time I faint lol.
I passed out 3 times and had 2 seizures in about 10 min from that. Right in my bosses front door way (over worked, wasn't eating well or getting enough rest).
I developed a heart palpitation when it happened and have had it ever since.

Keep your sugars up man, take a break and have a kit kat.

Ricky1lung ...ok for you my dear you need to use a supplement every day a strong dose of Omega3,6,9 oils...this will totally slow if not END the heart palpatations and it will also provide your body with proteins and enzymes that will say you have a reserve so you won't pass out... keep a bag full of fresh raw almonds around and grab a handful every now and then... it works...good luck
