homosexuality is to alcoholism:lol:

rick the dick..now looking all smart with those glasses says those tendencies can be overcome and here he is to explain just how that works:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) compared homosexuality to alcoholism Wednesday, arguing that both can be overcome.

"Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that," Perry said during an appearance at the Commonwealth Club of California, according to the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. "I may have the genetic coding that I'm inclined to be an alcoholic (even though he gets crazy wasted, molesting maple syrup bottles and is basically drunk at EVERY political function), but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way."

Perry has advanced an argument along the same lines before. In his 2008 book, he wrote, "Even if an alcoholic is powerless over alcohol once it enters his body, he still makes a choice to drink,” adding, "And, even if someone is attracted to a person of the same sex, he or she still makes a choice to engage in sexual activity with someone of the same gender."

He forget one important point,

Alcoholism is not a victimless crime.

Alcohol Use Disorders (AUDs): An estimated 17 million Americans have an alcohol use disorder (AUD)—a medical term that includes both alcoholism and harmful drinking that does not reach the level of dependence.3, 4 (Please note: 17 million is an average of the 16 to 18 million cases reported in multiple sources.)

Untreated AUDs: Research shows that an estimated 15 percent of individuals with an AUD ever receive treatment.5, 6 (Please note: this estimate is based on figures reported in multiple sources.)

Deaths: Each year in the United States, nearly 85,000 people die from alcohol-related causes, making it the third leading preventable cause of death in our country.7

(7 times more than gun deaths from all causes)

Economic Burden: In 2006, alcohol problems cost the United States $224 billion each year, primarily from lost productivity but also from health care and property damage costs.8 These issues affect all Americans, whether they drink or not.

Global burden: Globally, alcohol use is the fifth leading risk factor for premature death and disability; among people between the ages of 15 to 49, it is the first.9

Guns are nothing and gays have guns. We get maybe 12,000 gun deaths a year.
Much is crime on crime, gangs, drugs. Some is suicide, some is justified.

But, add Alcohol and Tobacco, and we see guns Save more than kill but, A&T are deadly.

People who die each year from their own cigarette smoking: approx. 400,000

Adult nonsmokers who die each year from exposure to secondhand smoke: approx. 50,000

Kids under 18 alive today who will ultimately die from smoking (unless smoking rates decline): 6,000,000+

People in the USA who currently suffer from smoking-caused illness: 8.6 million

6 million kids that started smoking, will ultimately die of this each year, but as adults.

Guns Save.

although this thread is about how homosexuality is the same as alcoholism (according to alcoholic rick) and you can "fight" the urge..not about guns..we have plenty of those threads.

TL;DR, another religious fucknut insists we Pray the Gay Away, so all people who share any common ground with said fucknut agree with his idiocy.

Guilt By Association Fallacy is now IN FULL EFFECT!

i'll see your Guilt by Association, and raise you a No True Scotsman!

Rick Perry is a shitty Republican. he doesnt respect the ideals of the republic, and fails miserably at following the dictates of the constitution, therefore he is more like a Democrat than a Republican.

i'm pretty sure bignbushy was trolling my friend on facebook.

Are you trying to imply gays just can't say "no"?

I can't wait for that dipshit to leave office.

Bring back Ann Richards' dead body, or elect Kinky Freidman.

With Perry spouting this crazy shit, the Texas GOP making "ungaying" people a part of the platform, we(Texas) are looking pretty stupid right now.
Sorry, but you can't blame Perry for that.
