hey guys I've been working on this recipe for over a year or so, trying to maximize my living soil, and also trying to cut back on some amendments!

the list is below the red color amounts is what I have just added to my batch today!
total soil is about 6 cu.ft, maybe even 5,

I mix is big ass tote from Walmart it's 4ft long, 2ft wide and 2 ft tall, about! I'm sure it's almost 6cu.ft. total but can't confirm that to save my dam life! which could be the reason my soil is always a lil bit off, no major issues but I can tell it's not 100%. I usually cook for at least 2 months!

I've been cutting down and trying lower amounts each time, heres what I'm at now!

I'm looking for any advise on maybe I should add more or less or maybe even drop another amendment, I've dropped the oyster bc I like the dolomite more for my sips, and I've also dropped the biolive, bc it just seemed like too much!

but again the red numbers are the amount I've already added in cups!

also I've tried using that dam soil calculator and for what ever reason I'm screwing up and getting told it's like 2 cu. ft. which I know is no way in hell, would be at least 4

so I added pics of my tote along with the exact measurements of it in hopes someone could confirm exactly(or close) to how many cu. ft that I cook at a time!

thank you guys I appreciate the help!!!

also I know the soil isn't full but it will be almost to rim!

I've been testing my soil for a couple of years now and I always have more than enough phosphorus and I am just using crustacean meal and I am following Clackamas Coots. It looks like we are on the same page except for the fish bone meal, that is the only one that I would drop. My test results always come back high in P and low in trace minerals. Compost by itself has plenty of P...

7 1/2gallons to a cubic foot...I use 32gal storage totes, so that is about 4 cubic feet.

The magnesium/calcium ratio is off on rock dusts, so that is why people use OSF. Oyster is something like 93% calcium carbonate and it doesn't have much Mg, so it will balance out the high Mg levels in the rock dust. At least with basalt and Glacial rock dust you get extra trace elements like iron and zinc. I found dolomite to be useless because I'm trying to raise my Brix levels and dolomite don't help.

When you look at a Mehlich 3 soil test there is a section for base saturation ratio. Ca, Mg, and K have an antagonist relationship with eachother and if one is too high, it will lock-out the other. So, too much Mg will drive down K and Ca along with other things.

I need to have a soil test done on my stuff!
Here is the solubility test that I have been getting. It's kind of hard going with one test or the other because they don't tell you the full story. However, if your soil is aged the Soil Savvy test has been spot on. It's not very accurate if you amend the soil and send it in the same week though, the Mehlich 3(Logan Labs) would be more accurate then.

Really, the Soil Savvy test is more helpful because it does account for nutrient lockout and that is mostly what you need to look at. It's all pre-paid with the kit like the lab fees and shipping.

Mine keeps cracking lol

I got totes cooking on a shelf. Dont ask . Its working man.. No pics

After this hydro run is done the floorspace will be for the sips.

But currently keeping them at field capacity mixing in bokashi every two weks and turning in the mold . Letting em colonize and ferment over the next few months until these finish.

Aya how often, how much are you using?
I top when cooking soil, about a cup, once or twice i usally cook for 2 months!

then I do 2 top dressing on my sips, one before planting and one after, once that's done in do not open the top ever again until after harvest!

I've went into a lot of detail in the thread on all of that! literally all the questions you have asked, I've posted on this thread with over kill details!!!
