Reserva Privada Sour Kush (Headband)

Greetings friends and fellow growers. I recently finished a RP Sour Kush fem seed that was a freebie with an order I placed last year. I was excited to run this freebie due to the fact that my best grow to date had been their Kandy Kush. In my mind if it was anything like the Kandy I was in for a treat. Well My friends I was right.

I grow strictly for personal med reasons. I'm not concerned with commercial potential for strains, only quality smoke that will help with my degenerative disc disease and the accompaning depression and anxiety that comes with it. maybe some of you can relate. But if you cant, let me enlighten you. Chronic pain leads to depression and anxiety in many cases. It makes perfect since but I will not go to much into detail as this is a review on my buds.

She was vegged under cfl's and a 250mh bulb for 5 weeks. Was topped after sixth node and the bottom pathetic node was removed to leave 4. The four were then spread out and tied to pot. This method leads to a decent canopy with many tops. I think she had 14 or so. Anyway she was flowered under 250hps for 84 days. Yep 12 weeks till she was ready, but I was in no rush whatsoever! I use the Fox Farm Grow, Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom for nutrients. And 17qt(4gallon) pots.

The odor was very strong through out flower. My carbon filter as usual did a wonderful job, but anytime closet and tent were open, watch out! The pheno I grew was Sativa dominant, so the buds were longer and thinner and somewhat fluffy, but dripping in resin. Harvest day and drying time were nerve racking due to the POWERFUL stench she gave off drying. After hangin 4 days I did a jar-bag rotation drawing out the moisture and drying her evenly. She went in jars and was burped till I got her moisture level to 55-60%. She has been curing 7 weeks sealed in jars, inside box, inside sterlite tub at about 65-70 degrees. Her yield was 3.75 oz's!

The smoke is very very thick, she has a serious expansion to her! And like I stated she stinks to high heaven. The kind of weed I do not like taking out of the house due to her pungency. And it lingers for hours! The high is perfect for me. You feel the calming indica influence but also a bit of the Sativa energy without the racing heart and 50 thoughts per minute I get from other strains.

I did not clone her. Dont have a set up for perpetuals just yet. But I will buy a pack or 2 in the future. It is absolutely FIRE! The only drawback to her is the strong odor. If you are someone nervous about smell, STAY AWAY FROM SOUR KUSH! She reeks of uber goodness. I honestly love the smell. The few weeds Ive had with that sort of smell all rank in my tops. That OG piney lemon thing combined with that funky underarm sour smell is wicked! When and if I do go perpetual, this is on my short list of strains i would want as keepers. I love the RP stuff Ive grown. I have Kosher Kush,Kandy Kush, OG Kush, OG 18 from them. Also Cannalope Kush,Sour Cream seeds from DNA that Im anxious to grow out.

In summary RP Sour Kush is top shelf weed. IMO! I have 3 testers beside myself who are weedheads to the max. They have all given it 2 thumbs up and even went as far as saying she is the best one of them has ever had. :hump:

very nice I have 6 in veg right now i topped them a little later probably 8th node or so and removed a bunch of the top big fans. i then stacked the bottom branches on top of the bottom big fans. they are staying really bushy i might top em 1 more time but they are pretty well set. 2 different growers warned me of stretchy spindly headband but I'm having no such issue.

it looks as that yours have not stretched very much either! from the day you put it in bloom to the day she stopped growing how much did she jump??

*EDIT* heres some pics

This is the pretty girl. All 6 are about half as tall as the 5 Qush i started at the same time, green love potion and Kings kush too are both much taller then the HB.

HGK, I have stopped measuring and checking stretch since I started my 4way LST training. Im limited on vertical space and try to keep my plants under 3 feet. But I also shoot for at least 2.5 foot wide plants. That way the light coverage is perfect for the 250hps light I use currently. I have consistently yielded 3.5 to 4 oz's per plant with just 4 weeks veg using this method. I know I can improve on that so Im working on a few ideas. One is a removable scrog that gives me access to the whole plant, The other is get larger pot and veg longer to make sure she spreads all the way out. one thing I have noticed with this 4 way system is if you spread her all the way out, all the branches act as tops and grow pretty strong and sturdy. Of course this theory will be tested when I do my second grow of Kandy Kush. The firs was a lanky bitch and I swore I would never grow it again until I smoked it!

Thanks for the strain review man I'll have to pick some of this up from the attitude seedbank and grow her myself. I want something that will wake me up in the mornings and a nice toke before school.. I was wondering how this strain was in the mornings? Can I feel uplifted and energetic but yet still calm and "chill" so I can focus in the mornings. I wanted jack herer but I heard it was racy and I'm not in to those racey highs

I grew out a 6 pack of these had 3 that were very sativa foxtaily with no odor or much taste, and 3 with a nice kush style bud only 1 of them smelled sour and tasted weak on the sour. All had a nice effect but not worth keeping the sour pheno cause it was the weaker thinner branched plant of the bunch. did cure nicely very sticky needed a scissors to cut it up.
