repot or wait

can anyone give me a bit of advice please? im at my wits end haha.

im growing 20 plants from bagseed, im expecting some to die and some to be weak and about 1/2 to be male. theyv been vegging for about 4 weeks now. im pretty sure my plants need repotting iv decided, but iv got so many plants that i dont have the space for bigger pots!

i thought they'd have shown thier preflowers by now, some have, some havnt. I'v removed the males iv come across so far. Really, what im wondering is should i get rid of the smaller weaker looking plants or should i really just wait for the preflowers? i mean, which problem is more serious here? throwing away my precious females by accident, or not repotting soon enough? i think it's only gonna be a few more days before i know to be honest... but the thing is, they're starting to look a bit ill

thanks in advance

no it usually takes upto 8weeks for them to show sex while vegging,,,you should put um into their final pots now,but if there not root bound wait a lil longer so you can get rid of all the ones that aint female first if space is a issue..peace

i dont know the capacity of these pots, they're 5" though... They ARE small, i fully expected to have to repot, but i thought that i'd have had just a little bit more time...

actually, before i started, i did think it would have taken a bit longer to show the preflowers myself aswell, but some appeared a couple of days ago... and as they're all from the same strain, i thought they'd all have shown around the same time? anyway, iv cut some dirty apparent males down already. i bloody well hope they're male anyway :? this is my first grow after all so it's a bit confusing, but iv read up on this stuff for years haha.

hmm, il give them a couple more days, they're just a bit droopy at the moment that's all. if they dont perk up, ill hazard a guess a which at which ones i think are females and hope for the best lol. i really dont have space for this many bigger pots.

Add soil to the bottom. I know thats what i'm gonna do since i'll soon have the same problem. + you can always make a pot deeper by adding height, improvise.

general rule of thumb is that 1 gallon of soil for every foot of plant hight when finishing, plants stretch two to three times during flowering so if you flower at 8 in tall then i would say you need a min of two gallon pots.

as far as males and females i would say throw them into flower while still in the small pots and at the first sign of pistils repot those immediatly and toss the males/weak ones.

Use tall square pots instead of fatter round ones if space is an issue, you can pack them in better when they are square:blsmoke:

i can physically fit in bigger pots, but im thinking about space for the foliage, the plants already look pretty cramped together. iv just topped them too, so i expect them to get a fair bit fatter.

i do intend on using square pots next though.

Just trim the excess leaf away, its not really required in a controlled grow setup anyway and gives more light to the bud areas.:blsmoke:

bagseed unfortunately... and it wasnt even that great a smoke either, but it's all i could find. but that's gona be down to the fact it was pollenated rather than the weed being shite. this is really an experiment before i shell out big bucks on seed.
