Hey want to know how tall indoor babys should be before flower. they are a few days shy of 3 weeks but they are only about 5" max... any thoughts? trying for decent half to oz a lady. So how tall or how long until flower?

some say 12" then?

You mean before flower? Are they sativa or indica? Max height?

There is no set height of when you can flower. Most of my plants enter flower between 1 and 2 feet. I have 6 ft to work with though.

if you want an ounce per, flower them at about 8 inches as long as you have at least 4 nodes. this is what i do (sog) and i usually get plants that are just one big nug that weighs about an 3/4 - 1 ounce. but if you are growing from seed you may have to wait up to 10 weeks for it to mature before flowering. late

Yield is dependant on loads of factors, none of which you have provided, but you can't really grow plants to give a specific weight per plant. Best advice I can give is that you want them to grow as tall as your lights and growroom can support. As a general rule of thumb the plants will double their veg height by the end of flowering. So work out how tall they can grow, half it and switch to flowering when they get to that height.

most decent indica strains have the ability to grow this short 1 bud plant, but as long as the environment is right 1/2-1 ounce nug per plant is easily attainable even for a first timer. and you will have a much fast cycle time if you grom them small. large plants are a pain.

I don't disagree with you jsgrwn but it sounds like you have everything dialled in and even you say 1/2 - 1 oz which is a 100% difference, so even you can't grow a plant to produce a specific weight.

Is the maker of your mango KC brains?

If so, this strain is NOT an indica! I have 2 KC brain Mangos @ 5wks flower and they are almost 6 feet tall.

i vegged for 21 days. The plants were about a little over a foot when I started to flower. So they have grown about a foot per week since.:leaf:

you are absolutely right. good call

I've asked this question, and heard a few tips in RIU ranging from "anytime" to wait until the plant starts putting out leaves in alternation from each other (they start out positioned exactly opposite from each other, then become alternate later).

I like the "6-8 internode" rule someone gave me, mostly 'cause my plants are just now passing 6 internodes! My plants are about 9-12" right now, and are still putting out opposite leaves, so that rule leaves me waiting...

The weight of yield is influenced not only by plant size, but light intensity. If your light level is marginal (say.. less than 40 lumens per square foot), your buds will be lighter and fluffier (but still good smoke, so no despair..). Getting your light at 50 lumens sq ft will give you harder, denser, heavier buds for any given size. Growing smaller plants more concentrated under your light is likely to produce as much or more yield than bigger plants struggling to get their fair share.

As kriegs said, your well off to wait until the plant shows maturity - ie. alternating nodes. You can flower anytime, but you'll have the best chance of success, best vigor and highest yield by letting your seedlings mature.
