"Regular" Soil Grow - Northern Lights - How many Plants per Square Foot?

I've been wanting to try SOG for my first grow, but several people have convinced me to try a couple of regular grows in soil first, just to get the hang of things. I will grow Northern Lights.

So, if I'm growing Northern Lights in a regular soil grow, how many plants per square foot should I plan on? Would 5 be too many for a 3.5 x 3.5 x 8 flowering area under HPS lighting?

Thanks,

:bigjoint:Depends on the size of your lite and who long you veg. If you veg till they are 12 to 15 inches you can put 15 under a 1000w they will grow to 22" +- 3" and yield 600 to 900g. I you veg them till they are 18" to 20" go with 12, they finish around 30 to 35" and that's maxing out your 1000w yield will be about the same. Great choice to grow.

600w the same but only veg till they are 12 - 15", less light in the 600w so can't grow as high as a 1000w
