hey folks,

I’m growing a female cannabis plant from some bagseed which I believe to be a Sativa leaning plant. I also live in a bordering state to Mexico, which leads me to believe that it’s a Sativa hybrid. Anywho my plant had a burst of growth, shooting out bracts on all sides of the bud at around Week 8 and now it’s almost Week 10, Day 63.

My question is, are these shoots from giving my plant fermented Fruit Juice at Week 7? Which by the way there are small sugar leaves coming out along with the bracts. Or is this a Sativa-leaning attribute and means it needs a few more weeks to ripen? Also I really shocked my plant with an AACT in it was Alfalfa, EWC, High P Bat Guanos, FFJ, Fish Hydrolysate, etc in the 3rd or 4th week. from my educated guess it fucked up the pH. Now that the soil is stabilized it’s absorbing the nutrients?

The smell after pinching the buds have become more pronounced, leaving me to believe to wait. What do y’all think?

Do you understand why people put sugar into soil such as molasses etc etc. ?

I do, but my Fermented Fruit Juice was broken down by Organic Brown Sugar, so I thought that would suffice. Do you add Molasses every time you water late in flower? Also I was under the impression that Molasses gave way to higher microbe count, off setting the balance of fungi? That’s why I don’t put Molasses in my AACT’s

I've never had an issue using molasses. I've heard of people using several different things to feed the microbes in the soil. I use molasses made for feeding cattle. I get a 5 gallon bucket cheap and it seems to work fine. However last year I just top dressed twice with some good EWC from a local company. I actually forgot to water in any molasses and I honestly didn't notice a difference. This year I'm going to do a side by side just to see if there is any difference. When I do use molasses I'll use it once a month once the plants get to a decent size. I see no point in doing it just for flower when the microbes are important for the whole life cycle of the plant. Some people believe that adding a sugar source in flower helps produce trichromes and swell buds up. I've never seen any change as far as that goes. That's more genetics than anything. I will say the overall vigor of my plants is better since I've top dressed EWC.

Thank you for your advice and input! I have a Worm Bin, so i’ll He harvesting some EWC here in at least 10 weeks. I highly suggest you look into it. Don’t by those stackable towers with the spout on the bottom. It’s also really pleasing and easy to take care of... at least for now. I have had mine for almost 4 weeks.

Should I wait to Harvest because of the growth? Half the trichs are cloudy with a couple amber

If your seeing lots of new pistils still then I'd wait. I like to watch pistils more than anything. Once I see them receding into the bud and very few new ones coming in I know it's getting close. I see people harvesting buds with the tops covered in white pistils. If that's happening the buds are still stacking up. So if your seeing new growth I'd wait if it were me.

I have several green houses I grow in during the summer months. There are other growers I know who have worn bins. They give me awesome deals on EWC so I haven't set up my own yet.

Yeah those fresh castings are legit. I’m going to start recording what I put in and the volume, so I can start tailoring what I feed them for different cycles of the plants life. Worms are also just fun to keep.

Thanks again for the help, you too @hotrodharley

It's common for certian sativas especially Mexican ones to foxtail and or keep throwing new pistils.

It may keep doing it after she is ready.

Get a loop or scope and check your tricomes out. Look for mostly cloudy with some amber before considering chopping.

If nothing else when your gut tells you to chop wait one week then chop.

Got it, yeah the Trichs aren’t there and neither is the smell, it develops Day by Day but it’s not ready. She’s a fussy gal, very very sensitive, but I cut off a sample bud and it was a great head high. It’s pretty dense too, the branches aren’t falling over but she thicc
