So.. my patient found an old tin in storage this week with all his smoke gear from the 80s. He said he slowly started collecting seeds from a potent bud he paid 40 an eighth for.

Redbud.

He gave me a pack of 50-60 seeds and asked me to give him a harvested plant if I ever grow it out.

I would want to do a bit of reading before growing it out. (I did inform him it would probably be a while before I could grow em out because of prior commitments) Colombian redbud and panama red is what i have come across.

Any thoughts? Could be cool if it is authentic. 20-30 year old seed and probably 11-20 week flowering...

Worth looking at or no?

more like 16 -24 weeks for old land race sativas, especially equatorial varieties. you'll never know a name, a strain, a lineage, all word of mouth or hearsay. however, IF you can germinate them, it could be worth checking out. i ran a 70's acapulco and though it went 20 weeks (and could have gone another month), it was worth it. that shit was major league, even though it wasn't laden with trichs. looked kinda crappy actually, but holy fuck!

that's what you said ten minutes after your first hit. shit was nearly toxic, lol.

That is what I was thinking. Long flower time. I was thinking about maybe popping em next year to see if they they were self pollinated or a random pollination. (Fem or reg)

if i were you, i'd try to run a few just to see if they germinate, and put them alone on 12/12 from seed. you'll get to see the stretch, and get a gist of the flower time, and keeping them small means you can run them for 6 months in flower if you have to. just to check and see...

that's what i did, and what i would do were i you ;) if they end up awesome, scrog that shit and flower the fuck out of it. you'll save money not running lights for veg.

Run em 12/12 from seed? Ive never done that. What size pots do you do that with?
Do you transition pots and then hit em with 12/12? Or just transplant during 12/12?

you can run 4 weeks in veg in 6'' pots, then up pot to 1g-3g, and flower, but you'll get bigger taller plants. as a sativa, it's gonna go high!

what i did was run 24/0 for two weeks to get a good start in 6'' pots, then threw them into flower in their own room (a 5x5 closet with a 400w hps). after a month i potted up (two weeks after flip) to a 1g nested in a 5g. the 1g had four large holes in the bottom and sporadic 3/4'' holes in the side. this let them bundle and search for new roots, effectively stunting them just enough to keep them in doors. all of mine ended up having to be broken sideways, as they stretched to 8' tall by 8 weeks. very leggy, very much stem, but i stuck with it.

when they budded up, it took forever. i was ready to harvest them 3 months before i did. smell and taste left something to be desired, but sleeper creeper was the end result. that shit would make a big man small, and a smart man stupid. it had zero bag appeal, but it was holy shit weed!

Maybe I'll revisit this idea in a year or two.

I wish I had more space and lights!

Or ask a buddy to grow em out for me. I have a friend looking to buy some land soon.

If you've got Panama red that would be cool, ive been trying to get my hands on some of those for ages, haven't found anywhere that still has them unfortunately.

I wish more older strains were still available in seed form.. So younger generations like me, can see how far we've come. :)

I would say its à long flowering strain but definitively breeding material , so why not in a greenhouse next summer and try some pollen chuck for fun

Bro look up ace seeds, great company. They have a panama strain, I believe most phenos are either green or red.
