Recommendations for editing videos on pc

I've made slideshow/videos in the past with music and subtitles but since then I've gotten a new camcorder that records in 1080p hd and when I put together a video/slideshow with the program I used with the other camera it doesn't work. It freezes every time I try to publish the video. Any advice?

If Windows Movie Maker doesn't do the job, and you'd like something a bit more versatile, try Lightworks (http://www.lwks.com)
The free version will do pretty much everything you're likely to need, and the Pro version will do pretty much everything anyone would need.

It takes a little time to learn all the features, but it gives very professional results.

I use Adobe Premiere and it does what I need.
