Taking a little roadtrip to Asheville in August, need to get away for a little and relax. I have been there a couple times before so I already know the more tripadvisor.com stuff to do like biltmore, chimney rock, etc.
We'll be there about 5 days. Going to take my lady to Max Patch, probably go ziplining, and who knows what else.

Anyone here on RIU live in WNC that can give me some advice? More local and less touristy stuff? I know theres tons of good food and beer down there, too. Would like to relocate someday.

if you use google you can usually find like a trip adviser report and read the reviews and make your judgements on food, venues and other things like that

Make your way to Hanging Rock in Winston-Salem. I used to walk that as a kid.

Asheville has a ton of places to visit. And TN is not too far, you can make it out to Dollywood as a day trip.

Check out Grandfather Mountain - the views from the mile high swinging bridge are absolutely gorgeous! And Asheville... isn't that where the NC zoo is? Or is it Asheboro? I can't remember... Quite honestly I don't know where Asheville is even though I've lived in NC my whole life lol. If it's near Boone, I know that area VERY well. :p

Boone....NC? Why did I think you lived in CA..

I used to live in Greensboro, then Chapel Hill. Absolutely love NC.
