Recent problem?

This plant is pretty much my fuck-up plant. I grabbed an unknown seed and germinated it for 3 days in a damp paper towel then planted it into a unknown pot with outdoor soil and put it under a 10watt halogen light bulb. Three days later it sprouted. Since then I have only used spring water or filtered tap water and only sunlight. The plant grew to what you see now without any problems, except without the extra little leaves.

Recently I placed the plant under a 18/6 timer with a 600watt HPS in a room with reflective mylar and began to add HESI's hydro nutes (ya, I grow in soil, quiet). Within 4 days I saw all those little leaves begin to grow out from the main stem. I just went down and checked it and saw that my tyings had come loose and the plant was bent over slightly, which then I noticed the top-part of my main stem was growing strangely, like some sort of zig-zag. Maybe I am just paranoid but I also notice that the leaves are all facing downward and the color is a very light green.

The plant is like 2 months old, I've only kept it in the veg state. Usually I check if the soil is dry in the morning and then again at night, and throughout the day I spray it occasionally with some nutes I had transfered from a bottle into a spray bottle.

This is my first grow.

Looks to me ike a bit too much stretch. Learn a little about LST(low stress training) or topping. Seems strange to see the plant look like that under a 600hps.

Because of the length of the stretch...I recommend snipping the plant at the 5th node from the bottom. Get the plant as close to the light as possible(about 8 - 10") and you will get some nice side branching that will catch up with the top branching and create a nice canopy.

It's only been under the HPS for 3-4 days now. 2 months in varying degrees of sunlight. What do you reckon the size of that pot is, like half a gallon or not even? Do you reckon I could thief some clones off the top branches before I clip at the 5th node? Cheers

stop spraying your plant with strait nutes.

Good advice...I missed that. Foliar feeding should not be done more than once a week....and your feed that you spray should be diluted as per manufacturers instructions.

I only foliar Nitrozime(kelp) on my plants and sometimes mixed with sm-90 for a wetting agent and clones get a rooting nute as well.

It doesn't look to me like you'll get too many clones off the top. I would say just use the top as a clone. Once your plant starts to branch out...you will get more growth to take clones from.

No sense putting alot of effort into cloning at this point when you don't even know the sex.

I would disagree with that, FJack, cloning when you can is always good practice, especially if it's your first time. I agree it should be the whole top. If he clones it sucessfully now and again when he puts it in flowering........some of us need the practice, I know I do. VV
