Reassurance needed - How is she getting on - Day 19 - Too short?

Should have come here in the first place, dropped the lights and LST and suddenly that lateral growth has really stepped up a gear

Couldn't get the bend on her I wanted so I've put the lights at an angle as well, same same but different right? Figured it could stay like this for a few days then i'll keep training her and straighten up the lights

On the back of everyone's advice I stepped up the lights today, now running 3 x 23W cfl at 2700K and 3 x 25W blurples so about 150W total in the room now, boy is it bright in there

she seems happy with my decision ;)
Just so you know, while CFLs can grow, they have very little intensity. They nees to be kept 2" to 4" from the plant to really have much effect.

Hey Guys, long time lurker, second time called but really need some advice/reassurance on this one

I'm growing RQS Easy bud, In soil, under a 300W LED light (75W actual draw, I'm installing additional lights at the end of this week for when she flips to flower) Lights are 60cm above the canopy and on an 18/6 lighting schedule

The mixture is regular potting soil with a mixture of soil, Peat (30% and I mixed in extra perlite to take that up to 30%)

I'm watering with distilled water because that's cheap in my area and tap water is very very hard. I water about half a litre every 2 days, some days she needs more some days a little less, PH is hard to measure in distilled water but it's around about 6

Day temps are 21-22 degrees, night temps are on average 19, the lowest was 18.5 and RH varies between 45 on a really dry day and 65 after a water

I'm also using Humic Acid, first application was when she was a seed, second application was yesterday, always following the directions from the manufacturer (who provides directions for growing the herb)

I've not really fed her, I gave her a small amount of 1:1:1 about a week ago but the tips started burning as you can see from the images, so toned it back

She's really good at growing, the side growth is going nuts, I get a new node fully formed every 2/3 days, but I can't help but feel she's very short? at day 19 she's 10 cm tall

Looking for a bit of reassurance from anyone who's grown this strain before/is knowledgeable about autoflowers, can't see what I'm doing wrong for her to be so short but she's hella bushy, I'm ready to start LST in a few days when the soil dries out because I've read it's best to do this before a water

Any help, advice, reassurance would be amazing, she looks great, but she's short! I know Autos grow short and Easy bud is only supposed to get to 60cm max anyway, do they start to stretch after week 3 when they turn to flower? I'd ask if she was stunted but every single day the lateral growth booms and the nodes are forming, just not very tall?

Thanks in advanced
Looks real good to me. Good job on getting to this point with what looks like no issues.

Hey Man thanks for the kind words, first grow in a long time and certainly the first where it's a serious setup (I grew in a wardrobe lined with tinfoil at Uni lmao)

I've noticed today my plant looks a little droopy, the soil was mildly damp last night and dry this morning so obviously I watered, first picture was this morning and second picture is just now (think you can see the time stamps on the image name) 1053 and 2133

lights go out in 90 minutes looking for reassurance this is the plants circadian rhythm and shes "going to sleep" (I know plants don't sleep but y'all know what I mean)

I'm definitely going to need to increase the water schedule, gave her 500ml this morning and the top of the soil is already dry but I don't think this is underwatering? still damp to the knuckle but barely, Temps are 23 (Highest recorded was 27 degrees, need to fix that I know adding the extra lights has stepped up the temps) and RH is between 45 and 50)

The colour is the same it's just a bad camera and there's no natural sunlight for the second picture

She's getting really bushy I think she'll give me a good harvest for a first timer just don't want to mess it up now :D

It's normal for plants to droop a little when they know the light is going out. They should be nice and perky for you in the morning. If not don't think it needs more water, for it may have been over watered. Make sure you let her dry out mostly before watering again.

I use the weight of the pot to tell me when to water, but I use fabric pots. I can easily let the plant sit on my hand.. if I can't feel dampness.. I water.

Thanks man appreciate the quick response. I figured this was the case, today was the first day I was out all day so normally I've already done a nighttime check about 2/3 hours before lights out this is the latest in the day I've seen her  Try not to check too much it makes mornings like Christmas lmfao :blsmoke:

figured it's best to ask all the stupid questions on this first grow then next time I'll be more certain

I don't think over-watered at all I gave about half a litre of distilled water today for the first time in 2 days, but i have been waiting until the top inch or so goes dry, happy to take the advice it could go longer without a water I'm losing a lot through run off anyway (loads of perlite in there)

That perlite will help in the long run. I'd get some calmag too. Distilled water is usually lacking I think. Some yelloing may occur and little brown spots may form on leaves.. if so.. it's needing cal mag.
Good luck with it. Update this thread if you have anything else going on in the future.

Yeah I was expecting to have to switch out from distilled water at some point, only costs about $2 for 5 litres so it's been great not worrying about water sources, but at some point I knew I'd need to do more

Thanks for the help and I'll definitely be coming back to the thread if there's issues :D

If anyone's interested you can find my full day by day grow diary here

So thanks to the great advice of everyone here she's getting really bushy and I'm starting to see pistils forming all over the plant, the picture isn't the greatest of colours and those yellowing leaves are still a nice green in person, but I'm thinking this picture has shown some very early signs of nitrogen deficiency, I'm planning on doing a very light foliar feed of 1:1:1 tonight I fed with bloom nutes yesterday so think she could still use a little topup of nitrogen

What I'm wondering, I can't pull the leaf i'm holding back out of the way to expose that bud site underneath, I'm really tempted to remove that one leaf to expose the bud site underneath to more light instead of it hiding in the shade

Is this a bad idea?

Thread seems to have gone a bit dead but thanks again to everyone who recommended upgrading the lights

If anyone's floating around, the first true leaves went very yellow and started dying, the rest of the plant looks completely fine, thinking this is because those 2 leaves didn't get any of the light for about 4 days, figured the plant decided to cannibalise it for being a couple of free loaders not producing anything

Your plants look nice and healthy for day 19 to me.one thing to consider is that all lights are not created equal. Cheaper lights do not give off the same spectrum as more expensive lights. most lights who claim to be 300 watts but only draw 75 are probably on the end of the cheaper versions which probably don't make the best spectrums.not to say they won't produce you some quality flowers but you get what you pay for.investing in a good light is probably the most important thing you can do. Check out timber grow lights. The first led I purchased was a black dog they are expensive but super high quality

it is completely normal for those two leaves to completely die off completely I usually prune them with my first defoliation anyway

Hey man thanks for the advice, I was worried about the Blurples, all the info checks out and I gave myself such a headache picking them, but in the end off the advice of this thread I did upgrade to some CFLs to finish off strong and she seemed to respond really well

They're day 33 now and really going at it each day :D

Thanks for the reassurance on this, I was like 95% sure because they were the only leaves showing that level of discolouration, but i'd rather ask a million stupid questions this time around and then tackle the next one with more knowledge

No worries we all have had to go through that stage.once you get a handful of successful grows under your belt with a system that you like and can be consistent with you will see better results with each grow.one tip I can give you as it is a mistake that I have made is be very patient at the end of flower most people pull their plants too soon to reach their full potential

This is gonna be the hardest thing about the whole grow  :blsmoke: , the strain profile says 8 weeks from germ, but I think it's going to be a 2021 harvest, my plug getting one last Christmas payday before I vanish into the haze of home grown goodness

I can almost guarantee you it will never happen in 8 weeks you're probably looking at 12 to 13 minimum 8 weeks would be after she starts to flower
