Real og kush characteristics

I just completed my 2nd grow of OG kush pheno known as SFV OG. It was told to me by the clone vendor that it was the real deal.

It took a really long time to root verses other clones I have had in the past. Once it rooted it grew slow and turned out tall and non bushy.

The overall yield was medium, but the buds never swelled to huge proportions, rather they were from dime to quarter size (quarter size bugs were the tops).

I have grown other strains before with huge tops, like 10 gram top bugs, however the biggest bugs on this OG plant was only about 4 grams with the average top being 2.5 grams.

The buds however are turning out nice and dense, however smaller than average.

My question is, is the normal characteristics of a real OG strain, … Tall & Stretchy, Longer than average grow cycle, smaller dense bugs????

What most of the guys I know that have been in and around for the past 20 years growing all pretty much will say the same thing about OG Kush. The real original OG's were Sativas, long stretchy moderate yielders, longer flower time (10 weeks) a totally unique funky smell and a notoriously finiky strain to grow. You need to have your garden dialed in to maximize the old true og's. There are so many OG Kush's now and they usually have the correct nose but many have been crossed to stabalize and increase yield and shorten flower time. The SFV is used in almost all of Cali Connections OG's but I have to say I personally don't love it. Also, you will see lots of OG Kushs now with Lemon Thai insufion and such trying to give them the proper nose and look but I think they all fall a bit short. There is still real deal OG Kush in southern California but I will say that for every real good OG I see, I must see 100 that aren't quite up to par. Not bad but not the real thing... The guys that I know that have the real deal, guard the genetics and won't share with most people. I don't think any of the seed versions that I have ever seen come close to the real thing.. Except maybe Riot's original OG Kush that was available like 5-6 years ago. I don't think it's around anymore, at least I haven't seen it in many years... Good Luck...
