Ready to harvest?

Hey RIU!

This is my second grow and my first one I harvested way too late. Very couchlock-y. This strain is Skunk #11 and is supposed to be mostly sativa with an energetic high. I don't want to ruin that by harvesting late. The seed was from dutch passion and they said to harvest at 7 weeks even if the bids look a little green. Is that 7 weeks from when the lights are switched or 7 weeks from the first sign of flower?

I have a little microscope and a camera so I took some pics of the trichomes. I think I see mostly clear trichs but I would like some more experienced eyes on them. These pics are from bids about midway down. In 3 days, they will have gone 7 weeks in flower from light switch. I also maybe started flushing too soon because all of the fan leaves are yellow. Is this an issue?
Thank you! IMG_0237.JPGIMG_0238.JPG IMG_0240.JPG IMG_0242.JPG IMG_0243.JPG

You should try gettin pics under better light

Yeah, looks like those pics were maybe taken under your HPS light?

Whenever I take trichome pics, I go to my grow room 5 minutes before the HPS comes on, and use the light on my USB microscope to illuminate the trichomes.

Would have been good pics if not hps pics...

Anyway, better take pics of the buds itself. Look at the swelling of the calyxes and new pistils. Trichs don't mean everything.

How'd you do that?!? Just lower the yellow'ness?

I thought you are supposed to harvest when trichome heads are mostly cloudy and maybe just a few starting to turn amber? I've also read when 80% of pistol hairs turn red. I am just not sure about this strain since the breeders say pull it at 7 weeks even if its still green-looking.

So when there aren't any new pistols?

In photoshop:
Image->Adjustments->Match Color
Enable Neutralize checkbox
Increase Color Intensity and Luminance with sliders

No not necessarily, but when there still are lots of fresh pistils and the calyxes are still swelling up it can be at least an indicator that it's 'not' ready yet. I get you want to harvest early based on the breeder's recommendation, nothing wrong with that, but you don't want to overdo it either at the cost of too much weight. They gain up a lot of their weight during the last weeks. Not all strains swell up as nicely sort of retracting the pistils so that 80% of red hairs (that's an oldie that worked 'ok' outdoors) doesn't always mean a lot.
