Ready to go but...

We have our bridgelux leds with meanwell HGL drivers set up and I am now ready to power everything up. But my potentiometers have yet to arrive as these drivers have external dimming and it appears it may be a couple of weeks before they get here. Can I run at full power by twisting the positive and negative leads together or is this as bad an idea as it sounds? Is the resistance of the potentiometer necessary in the circuit?

The potentiometer is not required. Driver will be at 100% power with no connection of the dimming leads, minimum power with the leads connected together.

Just out of curiosity, wouldn't using an off-the-shelf resistor rated to desired output do the job? Or am I way off? lol
