re-vegging to keep genetics

I currently cropped a delightful looking girl that I did not take clones of due to plant restrictions. I have a small 1" shoot at the base of the stem I left during sucker trimming, and just to be safe i left one branch in tact up above. Currently running .2 EC and lights on for 18/day. Will be switching to 24 tonight. I planned on giving it plain water for a few weeks until I see some sort of activity. Then treat it like a seedling.

Any tips or instruction from people who have had success?

I just revegged 3 of my ladies for the first time. I left the buds intact for the most part at the bottom of the plant at harvest and flipped to 24/0. They all reverted and I was able to take a few clones. It took 2 or 3 weeks to get all the way back to vegging though, and they shot out some weird leaf formations but are looking more "normal" the longer they veg. Good luck,
Nice bud shot!

the more you cut off, the longer the re-veg takes.... crop most of the plant down and it could take a month or two to see more growth.....

Ive revegged a few plants. It always seemed to have some reduction in vigour and quality. Also, it takes quite a while for proper branches to form as to clone off of. My advice, find a new clone.

Start by taking a big ass knife & cutting about 60 to 70% of the root mass off , replant in frseh soil , give it a shot of N & throw her in 24/0 , you'll start seeing strange oak leaves & shit after about a month for your 1st new nodes .

By the 3rd sets of new nodes you should have proper growth & new root explosion .

Yeah I'm at 7 weeks of 12/12, one of my revegged girls is large. Would have been nice to SCROG them. I took clones off the revegged plants and they are holding their own too. My journal has pics. The middle of the room is where the 3 revegged ladies reside. The one in the middle is by far the largest. I've revegged a few plants now. It takes a little while getting them to revert back to veg but they do great as far as i can tell.

Yeah I repotted from 3gal to 5gal, but didn't remove any root mass.

Well after doing it first hand I have some valuable tips for anyone doing this in the future.

I left one or two tiny shoots at the base of my stems. They were about 3" long at harvest.

The plant I decided was my keeper I left the smallest top. (One of the lower nodes that stretched to canopy)

I saw growth in water with an ec of .4 in 3 weeks. The small shoots on the other plants started to re veg then died because my light was adjusted for the keeper and was too high.

As to whoever says the quality is affected by re veg that makes zero sense.

Are you talking about when flowering the reverted plant or even after taking clones and growing them out?

Genetics dont change to my knowledge. Perhaps your second run wasn't as dialed in?

Genetics dont change, you are correct. However, in my experience, vigor can be reduced when taking cutttings from stressed mother plants. And revegging a plant not meant to be a perenial puts a lot of stress on her.

I have a C99 mother that I have had for 3+ years...I should say that I have the same genetic line from a C99 mother that was sprouted in early 2012. In order not to over stress I'll trim it down to the main stock with several side branches left. About 72 hours later I cut it down to nothing but the main stump and remove 2/3 of the root mass. Luckily since this plant is such a heavy feeder ( I add N to FF Ocean mix at full veg) it will produce 7- 10 quality cuttings. The leaves are 3 bladed with the 2 downwards blades reduced to nothing...which needless to say it not as vigorous as the original. I just wish I could get it to reset like this one strain I had when I first started growing.. going from 3 to 5 and back to 7 or whatever it had to begin with. I think it was just dumb drunk luck because I would always fixate on my grow after taking a few shots.

If your dealing with an f1 or s1 it will be more than robust enough to handle re veg. Stress doesnt permanently affect a girl unless it has weak genetics to begin with. Chances are the cut you used to reveg was inbred for a couple generations and was already a bit finicky.
