Re-veg Plant Now Huge Skinny Buds

I had a friend watch plants for a few days in week 4 of flowering. One plant was overwatered and it reveged. The bud leaves grew long and curled downward and the buds didn't grow at all. The cola grew 6-8 inches and was very skinny. I am now in week 9 of flower (outdoor Jamaican sativa bagseed grown indoors, cfl veg/hps flower, soil), one of the plants is done and it was identical to the problem plant in week 4. The plant that reveged looks like it will have 3-4 times as much as the other if it buds up...but will it?

First of all, does overwatering cause reveg? I thought it was light that did that. Second, will the plant bud up or will it be a bunch of skinny crap?

oh, yeah, the buds off main stem are 3-4 inches, full of single pistils and large hairs. bottom buds are turning color w/ no thickness.

I have been doing A LOT of reading and have never come across over watering tossing plants back into veg...

If the soil has a lot of nitrogen in it, too much water uptake could inhibit flowering.

With my last semi-micro grow with clf (my first grow) I started with real thick dirt with no perolite. I didn't exactly overwater, but the bottom of the pot never completely dried out and I suspect it being almost waterlogged.

My plant started out fine, but eventually nearly stopped growing with no noticeable bud growth.

When I finally hacked it (with nothing more then a couple grams to show for it) I found though the top of the soil was dry, the bottom was still fairly wet with a musty-almost rotten aroma to it.

Just an example of my individual experience.

Overwattering causes more nute uptake, and if there's residual N in the soil... that will inhibit flowering, and keep the plant in veg
