RDWC/UCDWC nutrient change question (Very Simple)

Hello, first post here, I'm sure this is just general knowledge, but with a RDWC or UCDWC system when people talk about "changing out the 'nutes'" every week or so, what is the actual process? Do you drain the entire system and refill it with new nutrients and water, or put new nutrients in the epicenter/reservoir? I only ask because I've also heard people saying the only thing they ever did was ADD new nutrients and top off their reservoir.

hi there (step1)what i do is let the system run for 24 36 hours with plain water and then add nutes to the rez

step 2 top off rez with plain water then when the ppm gets to about 600ppm add more nutes to the rez and only do 1 rez change when switchin to flowerin and 1 when flushin

you would drain the system when doin a nute change add water phed at 5.8 first leave for 24hours or 36hours then add nutes

theres diffrent ways peeps on here do things find which 1 works for u my friend i hope this helps

I've seen some people say they only drain out the system when they switch to flowering nutes
and just balance their system throughout the grow but that makes me hesitant of things like lockout
or buildups and general imbalances.

I probably go overboard but here's my bi-weekly change out system:

1. Drain system as best I can with inline pump.
2. Refill with tap water and flushing agent, run for 4/6 hours.
3. Drain again as best I can with inline pump.
4. If possible use wetvac to get any left over water. (Becomes a real chore later in flowering, but not totally necessary)
5. In a separate container mix up nutes to desired level, and put in.
